Introduction & Briefing About The Project

The project is working with Youth Empowerment Foundation to spread awareness about
project MILAAP and promote the fund-raising activities.

The idea of the Project

Project MILAAP focuses on providing help and support to the daily workers, migrant
workers, and other workforces in the blue-collar category that has no means of income
during the current scenario and is drastically affected during the COVID pandemic.

The direct objective is to support and promote the initiatives taken as a part of Project
MILAAP to improve the quality of life of the blue-collar workforce across India.

The key goals are: -

 Support the education of children from blue-collar families by creating a structured

curriculum and study materials for elementary school students.
 Spread awareness about the project MILAAP and fundraising campaigns through
social media.
 Conduct a market study to uncover the underlying factors on the impact of COVID on
blue-collar employees.

Background of the work

Over the last 2 years, there has been global disruption due to Covid-19, which crossed
national borders and has impacted people of all nationalities, educational levels, income
levels, and genders. However, the same cannot be said for the repercussions that have
disproportionately impacted the vulnerable and economically weaker sections the most.
Education is no different. Students from wealthy families, with their parents' support and an
eagerness to learn, we’re able to make their way past closed school doors to alternative
learning possibilities. But when schools were closed, those from low-income families were
left out and suffered the most.
This problem has brought to light several flaws and injustices in our educational institutions,
ranging from a lack of access to the broadband and computers required for online education,
to the supportive surroundings required to concentrate on learning, to a mismatch of
resources and needs. Lockdowns in response to COVID-19 have resulted in state-wide
school closures, with the majority lasting at least one year. While the affluent community
managed to avert this through resources, poor children and students missed out on learning
due to a lack of them.
Youth empowerment foundation (YEF) is an organization to gives direction to various
initiatives through their philanthropic initiatives and programs. Empowering the youths to
grow, learn and be the torchbearer for the future is one of the major impacts the organization
aims to achieve. YEF is a non-profit organization founded in June 2017 by Mr. Rambabu
Sharma. Inspired by his life journey, the founder along with his team has laid a strong
foundation to educate the underprivileged children of the society and hence bridge the gap
between them and the world. As explained by the founder himself in his story, poverty and
education are inextricably linked, because people living in poverty may stop going to school,
so they can work which leaves them without the literacy that they need for their careers.
YEF is providing a platform that will help these children to grow for themselves as well as for
society. Skills taught by YEF such as an additional language, or any other skill help these
children to be on their own and hence be the strongest pillars of the society in every aspect.
It also helps to develop confidence which in turn adds to their mental development and
mental health. Being able to look up to themselves for their careers and being self-
dependent leaves them with a spark that brings out the best in these children.
The NGO encompasses various initiatives like Project Love in Backpack to support deprived
communities, Hamari Paathshala to educate underprivileged children, Project Milaap to
support gig workers, among others. Various other projects include Muskaan, Care a lot,
Lifeline which facilitate sanitary awareness, basic amenity drives, and donation drives for
Covid 19 affected families respectively. Various accomplishments include having served
more than 1200 beneficiaries, multiple projects under ambit, 500+ volunteers and 5 core
projects,

Youth Empowerment Foundation

MISSION
YEF is committed to working for the betterment of our society by uplifting underprivileged
and empowering youth. YEF aims to provide education in every village and slums of India.
Empowerment of the youth is the foremost agenda.
ABOUT
Youth empowerment foundation is an organization to give direction these arrows through
their initiatives and programs. Empowering youths to grow, learn and be the torchbearers for

people living in poverty may stop going to school, so they can work which leaves them
without the literacy that they need for their careers. Education in all different forms is a key to
breaking the cycle of poverty. It increases food security, decreases malnutrition, enhances
the standard of living, and improves gender equality. It teaches children what they can and
should expect from adults and in turn, also shows adults the benefits of respecting their
children’s rights. With the different kinds of training and initiatives such as Hamari
Paathshala, Candle making, English learning, computer learning, and training, YEF is
providing a platform that will help these children to grow for themselves as well as for
society. Skills taught by YEF such as an additional language, or any other skill help these

WORK
1. Project MILAAP
The vision of project MILAAP is to provide help and support to the daily wagers,
migrant workers, roving workmen force, and those people who have no means of
earning due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

2. Project love in a backpack

The motive of this project is to help the children of deprived communities by
supporting them and providing a stable economic future. YEF volunteers go to slums
and educate children to help them realize their potential.

3. Humari Pathshala
YEF has initiated an education platform “HUMARI PATHSHALA” where children from
slums get an education and have the opportunity to involve in various activities
important for their growth. The foundation ensures that no one feels small as
everyone is born with a seraphic power in themselves.

4. Project MUSKAN
YEF is planning to spread awareness & distribute 5 lac sanitary pads by the end of
this year. Sanitary Pads are a very essential need and poor women are neither able
to get nor afford them. It puts their health and dignity at huge risk.

5. Project Care a Lot

YEF has come up with “Care ‘A’ lot” as a groundwork drive all across India. This
project is to help those who couldn’t afford the basic amenity like clothes. With this
project, we will be donating clothes and blankets to the people who are deprived of
them. An initiative to share the happiness and warmth to the kind souls this winter.

RECENT CAUSES

1. Helping Daily Wage Earners during COVID – 19

This initiative aims at supporting Daily Wage Earners and their Families amidst the
Coronavirus lockdown in India.

2. Providing Education
YEF has initiated an education platform named “Hamari Pathshala” where children
belonging to various slums are educated & various fun activities are also organized.

3. Providing School Supplies

This initiative aims at spreading education & happiness. Reaching out to people to donate
school books, board games, fresh stationery for underprivileged children.
Work Allocation
Starting off our work with Youth Empowerment Foundation, we had an orientation meeting to
set the agendas of the program and identify the learnings the students will derive through
this period. We were given a variety of tasks during this period to complete our objective.

The task allocation is mentioned as follows –

Creating a Training Module for Kids

As a part of the task, students were divided into groups and the aim was to create a training
module for kids and develop the sense of teamwork within us through it. A group was
supposed to make an easy-to-understand video on a given elementary topic for the students
associated with YEF. This would help YEF prepare material for teachers to use while
teaching the students.
Preparing a Graphic on YEF

For the 2nd task, students were supposed to make a poster, video or any other graphic on
the theme “YEF in action to help the unprivileged” and then share the same in their social
circles. This would help YEF engage on social media platforms displaying the various
activities conducted by them.

Preparing a report

Our next task wanted us to create a report by doing a small survey on a topic either related
to Online Education or Impacts of Internet or internet safety. The report was supposed to be
extensive including points of research, data points, analysis, and limitations. This task
helped us use our management skills to help YEF analyze data about problems with Online
Education so they can devise strategies to fix them.
Abstract of the Study
Several studies have found that people are exposed to a huge amount of information and
that the internet in general, and social media in particular, occupy an ever-growing role in
your lives. The Internet is a super-medium comprised of both modern and conventional
media, offering a vast array of interactive possibilities. Internet users are differentiated by
their capacity to understand, analyze, appraise, create, and distribute content; successfully
make use of communication, information, and media technologies; identify and cope with
harmful content, and make use of the Internet for democratic and humanistic purposes, and
for the individual as well as communal purposes.
However, safety has become a major issue and relates to a range of activities including
online privacy, cyberbullying, exposure to violent content, exposure to content that foments
exclusion and hatred, contact with strangers online, and coarse language. Cyberbullying is
defined as an activity aimed at harming another person using verbal or visual messages,
using video, audio, and software programs. There are other common forms of harassment
including flaming, denigration, impersonation, outing, trickery, exclusion, cyberstalking, cyber
threats, the spreading of viruses, attacks against websites, breaking into computers, etc.
The study will be focused on the internet safety and how it varies depending on occupation
and age.

Organizing an Online Event

For our final task, we have divided into groups again and we were supposed to use our
creativity to organize an online event on any theme, it could have been a Quiz, a game, or a
webinar. We developed a quiz with the theme of “Republic Day” Republic Day. This was
again supposed to promote YEF in front of the participants of the event.
All these events not only helped the volunteers help empower child education in some
simple ways but also helped them promote YEF in front of a sizeable audience so they can
conduct engagements with them.

Research Methodology
Data Collection: Data collection is defined as the procedure of collecting, measuring,
and analyzing accurate insights for research using standard validated techniques. The
most critical objective of data collection is ensuring that information-rich and reliable
data is collected for statistical analysis so that data-driven decisions can be made for
research.
Method of Data Collection for the report:

Primary Research: We have used Online Survey as the source of my primary data
collection. We have surveyed 100+ people to collect the data for arriving at conclusions.
The method used was convenience sampling.
Secondary Research: As part of secondary research, we have referred to 5+ articles
published across journals and educational institutions.

 Game addiction was found to be more prevalent in males than in female populations
 A total of 320 million learners in India have been adversely affected by the COVID-
19 pandemic and have transitioned to e-learning
 A 2019 report found that only 32 percent of the rural population of 12+ years and
54 percent of the urban population had internet access and that only 11 percent of
Indian households have computers such as desktops, laptops, and tablets
(excluding smartphones)
 Ministry of Education rolled out initiatives such as DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for
Knowledge Sharing), in conjunction with multiple Ed-tech NGOs

Mode of Survey: The survey was conducted in online mode.

Description of the project: Covid-19 has caused global disruption over the last two years,
crossing national lines and affecting people of various countries, educational levels, income
levels, and genders. However, the same cannot be true for the consequences, which have
disproportionately harmed the most vulnerable and economically disadvantaged people.
Education is no exception. Students from wealthy households were able to get beyond
closed school doors to alternative learning opportunities thanks to their parents' support
and enthusiasm to learn. Those from low-income households, on the other hand, were left
out and suffered the most when schools were shuttered.
This issue has exposed a lot of flaws and inequities in our educational institutions,
ranging from a lack of access to the bandwidth and computers required to a lack of
accountability in our educational institutions.
Objective: The goal of my research is to evaluate the current educational situation in
the lives of children from low-income families, as well as to examine the current situation
and progress after the COVID-19 restrictions were repealed. I did this by contacting
members of several vulnerable households in my neighborhood, including domestic
help, security specialists, delivery persons, and other service providers.
Survey: The survey had 11 questions containing multiple-choice questions to
understand the problems better and the effectiveness of the measures recommended.

Results:
“Making a difference to the society and the people around us is what makes us a responsible
citizen of the country.”
As we undertook the various assignments of the NGO, we could see the results of our work
as below:
1. Reading Material for the Underprivileged – YEF in one of its missions aims to
achieve educational parity between different sections of society. As part of our
project, we helped them prepare interactive course material for children of all ages.
The course material prepared will be used by them in conducting classes and
knowledge transfer sessions in their upcoming camps and educational drives. The
content created includes topics like Time, Measure of Money, Shapes, etc which
were explained in simple words by the IIFT student volunteer body.

2. Social Media Awareness – NGOs need to spread the good word to get more people
onboarded for carrying out their initiatives with the same zeal and dedication. We, the
students were able to garner social media engagements on various initiatives like
Anti-Child Labor Initiatives, Sanitization Drives, Girls Education, etc. Cumulatively,
we managed to get 100+ likes on Facebook and other social media channels on
behalf of the NGO.

3. Research Work and Findings – YEF, as a plan of the future initiative’s planning
undertook research in the field of ‘Impact of Covid on Education Sector’ and we
helped them collate primary data from the student community as well as our homes.
As part of them, we highlighted how there was a drop in school-going children on
account of covid, how the digital divide further widened the gap in education along
the different strata of society. To substantiate our findings from primary research, we
also conducted secondary research. Post the problem identification, we made
various recommendations to overcome the looming problem and steps we could take
as individuals to be a part of the solution. The result of this research outlined the
action plan for YEF to tackle the problem.

4. Youth Engagement and Donation Drive – We, the future leaders of the business
world have to be aware of our responsibilities and duties towards society. As part of
the final project of our SAP, we undertook an event management task for engaging
the youth of our country by helping them understand the nitty-gritty of today ‘s world
via interactive games and quizzes. We also undertook a donation drive for the NGO
to get the capital required for the smooth functioning of the NGO. The impact created
through these events was highly praised by the NGO mentors and guides, which was
evident by 100+ participants in all the various events organized. All the members
claimed that they were now socially more aware of their duties as the citizens of India
and will always offer their helping hand in whatever capacity possible. Additionally,
we could also increase the sponsor’s list for the NGO by leveraging the social event
to catch the eyes of potential student donors and others from the community.

To summarize the results, we made the below impact:

 Became responsible citizens of the Society
 Raised awareness about the NGO and its various initiatives
 Helped fill the Education Gap by preparing study material
 Initiated Donation Drive to increase the funding for the NGO
 Garnered social media engagement
 Helped in problem identification and provided recommendations
 Research and Project Work Undertaken on behalf of the NGO
 Connected the NGO with the Youth.

Benefits of the SAP Program

The SAP Program at Youth Empowerment Foundation (YEF) was a very enriching
experience that eventually helped us learn a lot in just a brief stint of 10 days. Each task had
some nuanced learning to offer and was all designed in a way that benefited us in many
ways.
The first task of preparing a presentation module on some topics helped us understand how
it is to effectively communicate academic topics to children and gave us a gist of what
teaching would be like. It primarily benefited us in making us realize how to present
information to different stakeholders without losing the essence of the context, which
eventually helped us a lot to understand how things might work in the corporate when
dealing with different kinds of people. Working in a team demanded us to talk with different
types of people with varied natures and behaviors. Dealing with everyone with humbleness
and not losing our temper is a quality which was learned by spending time with people who
are working together. This developed great interactive skills which could be fruitful in all
walks of our life.
The tasks also helped us in developing time management skills and other hard skills like
event management and leadership. All the tasks ranging from event conduction to report
writing and research helped in garnering very wholistic learning in both hard and soft skills
and were very critical in developing our managing career. This opportunity was the perfect
base to help us understand and imbibe certain hard and soft skills that are being taught to us
in college, put to use practically thereby eventually making it a very fruitful experience that
will count a lot in coming years.
