Projects on Krishna River State -Wise:

Maharahtra :
Tarali project is situated in Satara district of Maharashtra State. Dam across
river Tarali, a tributary of river Krishna, is located near village Dangistewadi in
Taluka Patan. Project comprises of a masonry dam of length 1096 m and maximum
height 73.41 m with 5 nos. radial gates of size 12 m x 5 m. Gross storage capacity
of the dam is 165.70 Mm³ and live storage 165.462 Mm³. The Ultimate Irrigation
Potential of project is 19498 hectare on 18131 ha CCA. There are 7 K.T. Weirs on
Tarali river to irrigate 7560 ha area by lift in Satara, Patan and Karad Talukas in
Tarali Basin along with extension of Khatav and Man canals of Umrodi Lift
irrigation to irrigate 11938 ha, including provision of 51.253 Mm³ for drinking
water supply to the villages in Tarali & K.K.L.I.S. command.

Project was earlier approved by Planning Commission for Rs 504.96 crore (at price
level 2000-2001) in the year 2007. Further revised estimated cost of Rs 870.90
crore (2008-09 price level) has been approved by Planning Commission in the year
2010. Project was started during the year 1996, taken up under AIBP in the year
2007-08. Upto March 2012 potential of 2500 hectare is created.
