Housekeeping Project Report
Report for Sir Ryan Wai

Introduction
Our report is going to compare the housekeeping departments of Pousada de Mong-
ha and Venetian Macao. Pousada de Mong-ha is an educational hotel. The Venetian
Macao is a resort hotel. Our group received the answers from Venetian Macao and
had a field trip to Pousada de Mong-ha. We visited the single room in Pousada de
Mong-ha and we also had a meeting with Ms. Idol kuan. She gave us lots of
information about Pousada de Mong-ha.
2) The second question is how many staffs total are there in housekeeping
department.
In Pousada de Mong-ha, there are seven staffs in housekeeping department.
Venetian Macao has about 1,000 team members. But, Pousada de Mong-ha has 20
rooms and Venetian Macao has 3000 rooms. After our calculation, we found that
the Pousada de Mong-ha’s staff ratio is 1: 2.8 but that of Venetian Macao is 1:3.
3) The third question is what positions are there in housekeeping department.
We are going to show you the difference in the following form. Base on the
form, we can see that scale of Venetian Macao is much higher than that of
Pousada de Mong-ha.

4)The forth question is the room configuration detail and individual types.
There are 4major room types in Venetian.
8 x Standard Room
8 x Deluxe Room
4 x Suite
5)Our fifth question asked for the number of rooms / units workout by each Room
Attendant every day.
In Venetian, there are 11 credits per room attendant.
In Pousada, there are Max 10 rooms per day.
6) The sixth question is how many areas under the housekeeping department
managing & responsibility, and their names.
For Venetian, they are in charge of the cleanliness of all hotel suites, front
of house area (except non-property owned shops and restaurants), heart
of house area (except kitchen), laundry & linen and uniform.
8) The eighth question is how often of deep cleaning arranged in your guestroom and
on Public Area? What are those areas? Example: guest area in public washrooms
cleaned by daily even by hourly.
In Pousada De Mong-ha, they will arrange the deep cleaning for guestroom in
weekly/monthly/yearly:

Replace shower curtain, High dusting, exterior Carpet shampoo, sofa
clean lights, scrub window cleaning, A/C cleaning, sheer/heavy
bathroom title & grout vent cleaning curtain cleaning, marble
polishing ...etc
For the public areas inside the IFT campus which is handled by Central
Services. They have their own cleaning team.
But in Venetian,

Guest suite's deep cleaning included Public area's deep cleaning included
dusting all furniture surfaces, vacuum guest & staff toilet, back of house
underneath of furniture, carpet staircase, staff toilet, floor maintenance,
shampoo, marble polish, stripping duvet ceiling, ventilation and etc.

Compare these two hotels, in Pousada they arrange the deep cleaning at least
weekly. But in Venetian the guestroom deep cleaning is a quarterly project, and the
public area’s deep cleaning is a monthly project. We could see Pousada is more
frequently to have the deep cleaning than Venetian. It was because Venetian have
too many guestroom and the public area also very large. And for Pousada they just
have 20 guestrooms, the public area is also small, it’s easy to clean. So Pousada is
even cleaner.
9) what kinds of Property Managing System (PMS) in your department.
bottle sterilizer and milk bottle warmer are also provided to the guest too.
10) Beside of guestroom default setting, what kinds of guest loan items available for
the guest.
11) How many type of linen in guestroom? How many in both bath & living room?
The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel obtains totally 11 types of linen in a typical
bath room which includes five types for bathroom and six types per bed.
Pousada de Mong-Ha has a total of 10 types of linen per one guestroom, five
types per bed linen and also five types for bath linen.
12 ) Do
you have On-Premise-Laundry work shop?
The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel and Pousada de Mong-Ha both have used the
services of an off-site laundry service rather than On-Premise-Laundry.
13) How many Par of linens do you have for current operation & storage?
In Venetian, the par level is about 4 par for daily operating linen and in Pousada,
it’s about 8 par. our group think that venetian should Add more par of linen in case
of emergency.
14) How could you manage staffs successfully as keep up their morale?
Definite you need a larger data storage if you want to cover everything in
Housekeeping operation.
Recommendation
Although Pousada is much smaller in size, it has won Michelin recommendation for
the third year running! These two hotels provide guests with perfect housekeeping
services.
