(1) History
This Service Bulletin is issued further to an operator's request.
(2) Objective/Action
This Service Bulletin installs a second High Frequency (HF) system.
The modification consists of:

- Installing the HF2 transceiver


- Installing the HF2 antenna coupler
- Modifying the Audio Management Unit (AMU) pin programming
- Removing the safety clip from the HF2 circuit breaker.
(3) Advantages
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will satisfy the operator'srequest.
(4) Operational/Maintenance Consequences

If an aircraft listed in the effectivity has a modification orrepair embodied that is not
of AIRBUS origin, and which affects the contentof this Service Bulletin, the operator
is responsible for obtaining approvalby its airworthiness authority for any adaptation
necessary before incorporationof the Service Bulletin.
G. MANPOWER
The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also
not included.

Modification

CAUTION: ALWAYS OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW TO KEEP


ELECTRICALWIRING IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION (ELECTRICALLY
AND MECHANICALLY SERVICEABLE).WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE
WORK, REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS, ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICALWIRING,
COMPONENTS AND THE WORK AREA AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. TO DO THIS:
- PUT PROTECTION, SUCH AS PLASTIC SHEETING, CLOTHS, ETC;
ASNECESSARY ON WIRING AND COMPONENTS.
- REGULARLY REMOVE ALL SHAVINGS, UNWANTED MATERIAL AND
OTHERCONTAMINATION.
THESE PRECAUTIONS WILL DECREASE THE RISK OF CONTAMINATION AND
DAMAGETO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING INSTALLATION.

Procedure

NOTE: The items given in this note shall be considered asthe basic Aircraft
configuration before you start a maintenance task:
- Aircraft on the ground resting on landing gear (the groundsafety locks
and the wheel chocks are in position on the landing gear)
- Engine shut down, thrust reversers closed and locked
- Aircraft in clean configuration
- Parking brake applied
- Aircraft electrical network de-energized
- Hydraulic systems depressurized
- Access to the cockpit and cabin is available
- All circuit breakers are in closed position
- All controls in NORM, AUTO or OFF position.

(a) Make sure that the aircraft is electrically grounded, referto Ref. AMM Task 12-34-
24-869-002.
(b) Do the job set-up procedure as specified in the removal of theAudio
Management Unit (AMU), refer to Ref. AMM Task 23-51-34-000-001.
(c) Open the avionics compartment door Door 824, refer to Ref. AMM Task 52-41-00-
010-002 and Ref. AMM 06-41-53, Page Block 001.
(d) Open the FWD cargo-compartment door Door 825, refer to Ref. AMM Task 52-30-
00-860-001 or Ref. AMM Task 52-30-00-860-003 or Ref. AMM Task 52-30-00-860-
005.
(e) In the FWD cargo compartment, remove the partition panels Panel 131DW and
Panel 131CW, referto Ref. AMM Task 25-54-11-000-001 and Ref. AMM 06-41-53,
Page Block 001.
(f) In the aft utility area, remove the ceiling panel Panel 262CC, refer to Ref. AMM
Task 25-23-42-000-002.
(g) Open, safety/lock and tag this (these) circuit breaker(s):
