rate was 19.6 and death rate was 5.6.

•In terms of literacy, Himachal Pradesh made remarkable progress in the country.
•Himachal Pradesh had lowest literacy rate (8%) at the time of independence. But at present,

Change in literacy rate 2001 to 2011- Kullu OBSERVATIONS AND INFERENCE
• Census defines literate means a person aged 7 years and above who can both read and write
with understanding in any language.
• The table shows that the literacy rate of town has slightly increased to nearly 82% in the
census year of 2011 as compared to 2001.
• When it is compared to the literacy rate of urban areas of Himachal Pradesh state which is
