Ritual dance
Dugso, meaning "dance," is performed solemnly and reverently
because it is part of the kaliga-on, which is related to thanksgiving,
appeasement, supplication and consultation of nature spirits. Other
occasions that call for the performance of Dugso are festivities
connected to abundant harvest, the birth of a male heir or victory in
war.

Pagdiwata
(PALAWAN)

The Pagdiwata Ritual Festival is an annual event of acknowledgement


and expression of Palawan people to the deities same time seeking for
the deitiesí help in healing the sick and in need and offer prayers for
departed loved ones. The ronsay is another ritual performed during the
full moon of December as a thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest and
led by the head of the tribe or barangay captain
Binasuan
(PANGASINAN)
Binasuan is a folk dance that originated in Bayambang, Pangasinan.
The word “binasuan” means “with the use of drinking glasses.” The
dancers balance glasses on their heads and in their hands as they
move. A group of dancers generally performs binasuan, moving in
unison, but occasionally breaking into smaller groups and performing
different choreography. People dance binasuan at weddings and

Daling-daling
(MUSLIM COURTSHIP DANCE FROM SULU)

Daling-daling is a courtship dance from Jolo, Sulu. This is a popular


among the young people of that locality. The word daling means my
love. The name of the dance, therefore, means "my love, my love".
 
The dancers sing as they perform the dance or the audience may sing
while the dancers perform the dance. The song reveals how two lovers
care for each other. The boys tells the girl that there is no peace in his
mind when he is away from her. The girl, on the other hand, says
that even if they were in two separate islands her love for him would
never change.

Mag-asik
(COTABATO)

This is a Tiruray dance for girls, performed in Nuro, Cotabato.


According to the natives the word "mag-asik" means to sow seeds. A
large kerchief or piece of bright colored cloth about a yard square is
spread in the middle of the floor The dancers wear tight blouses with
long tight sleeves and a peplum gathered around the waist. Their
blouses are made of shiny materials in different bright colors. An
ankle-length patadyong is worn as skirt. A necklace that reaches down
to the waist are made of gold, beads, or old silver coins. A sarong
hangs on the left or right shoulder. Interestingly, only the lower lip is
painted.

Mananagat
(Cebu)
Mananagat dance is a folk dance originated from Bogo, Cebu. It is a
dance imitating the actions of the fishermen. The music of the
Mananagat folk dance is lively and it is divided into four parts. There
is a song made to sing to tell the fisherman's story and while dancing
the dancers are singing the song in accordance with the dance steps. 
The dancers who dance the Mananagat folk dance are composed of a
female dancers and male dancers. . A song made with a lyrics
that tells the story of a fisherman's life is also being sang by the
dancers while they are in a long formation and doing the cross,
walking and waltz steps in a beat of two to 2/4 time; one, two,
three to 3/4 time. Dancers also carry a paddle and scoop, a part
of the act of imitating the fisheman's life.
