Type of information present on different data

sources & their uses

1. Statpak.gov.pk
This website helps in providing information to researchers, policy
makers, & planners in different social & economic sectors. It
includes thee departments: Federal Bureau of Statistics provides
statistical data on national service like statistical yearbook &
Pakistan Statistics Handbook. Next is Pakistan Census Organization,
which collects the information of the population of Pakistan in form
of census reports, & last is Agricultural Census Organization, it
collects & provides the researcher with statistics of agriculture
sector in Pakistan.

2. Sbp.gov.pk
This is the website of the State Bank of Pakistan, & it Provides
information regarding all the banking policies in Pakistan, economic
data on monetary sector & real sector. Further it has publications
regarding Islamic banking, Foreign Exchange Manuals, Banking stats
of Pakistan, reports of exports & imports.

3. Finance.gov.pk
This website provides with different economic surveys conducted in
Pakistan, every year’s budget, reports on Pakistan’s fiscal
operations, & different reports & proposal for poverty reduction.

4. Moip.gov.pk
Ministry of industries & production provides data regarding province
wise number of industrial unit set up, production statistics of every
year in Pakistan.

5. Secp.gov.pk
It is the official website of securities & exchanges commission of
Pakistan, & provides with data related to the listed companies in the
stock exchange, brokers, and credit ratings of the companies.

6. Fbr.gov.pk
Federal board of revenue’s website has all the information regarding
tax laws & its applicability, & a complete list of the registered tax
payers of Pakistan.

7. Ilo.org
The website of International Labour Organization provides data
Child labour, Economic & social development of workers, Labour
laws, Safety at work, Social security, Equality & discrimination,
Employment promotions, Working conditions, & Youth employment.

8. Creb.org.pk
The Centre for Research in Economics & Business of LSE, provides
with the statistical data such as, Income & Household Data, Labour
Force Statistics, Social & Demographic Data, & Financial Data.

9. Pide.org.pk
Pakistan Institute of Development Economics has theoretical &
empirical data on development economics, demography,
anthropology, & academics.

10. Smeda.org.pk
SMEDA is working on providing a services regarding development of
small & medium size enterprises in Pakistan. It has information
regarding finance, planning, intellectual property of business,
training services, accounting packages, & focuses on sectors like
Agriculture, Services, Manufacturing, Mining, Food Products, &
Commerce.
11.Tdap.gov.pk
This website has data on all the registration of exporters, foreign
buyers, Events & exhibitions taking place, trade policies, & different
projects.

12.Wto.org
World trade organization is the only international organization which
deals with the rules of trade between the countries. It is a vast
website with database ranging from regional trade agreements,
trade & tariff statistics, economic research & analysis, world trade
report, international trade statistics, & WTO annual reports.

13.Unido.org
United Nations industrial development organization is focused on
industrial development to reduce poverty, inclusive globalization, &
sustained environment. Its database includes research on
developing countries & their industrial performance. It also has
statistics of all the industries all over the world.

14.Print journals & magazines @ UMT


This section of journal & magazines in the library has journals like
Harvard Business Week, IBA’s Business Review, The Economist,
journals from LSE, NUST & different business related magazines.
These publications include different research articles on projects, &
numerous case studies on businesses. Further they also have
articles & interviews of CEOs & MDs of well renowned companies.

15.Current Affairs Database


CAD is a section the UMT library, which has articles published in
different newspapers time to time, on different industries of
Pakistani economy. They have made it easier to search the articles
by compiling different files on each & every industry separately.

16.Industrial Advisory Report


There is another compilation of IAR, which includes industry wise
progress & development that has been taking place in Pakistan
annually. They have reports publications on different industries of
Pakistan & have all the information regarding imports, exports, &
production in Pakistan.

17.Projects by BSc & MSc


This section has final projects & thesis of all the previous batches of
BSc & MSc at ILM & UMT. It includes their research work which they
did during the project, their findings, & recommendations on those
particular topics.

18.Cambridge Journals Online


This website has many journals published by The Cambridge
University, on subjects including agriculture, biomedical sciences,
economics, history, law, medicine, religious studies, computer
sciences, environmental studies, engineering, material research,
nutrition, philosophy, physical sciences, politics, & psychology.

19.Pakistan Integrated Household Survey


This a survey that is conducted by the government to gather
information on the living standard of the households on the basis of
education, health, spending, savings, consumption of goods &
services.

20. Population Population Census


The organization gathers the data of Pakistan’s population by
conducting census and then publishes reports on it. It has a number
of categories in which they divide their study on the criterion of
region, gender, education, employment. By this the researcher can
easily come to know that how much people fall in what category.

21.Agricultural Statistics of Pakistan 2006-2007


This report has the statistics of all the activity been conducted in the
agriculture sector in Pakistan. The information is present on the
area that is being cropped, usage of fertilizers, how much water is
used for agriculture, & what sort of equipment is used for
agricultural purpose.

22.Pakistan Education Statistics


Includes data on the education system of Pakistan, that how many
students, teachers, institutions are present in Pakistan. The data is
available on annual basis, so that the changes can be compared
from the previous years.
23.Foreign Trade Statistics
It has all the data on the amount of imports & exports that Pakistan
is involved in. Moreover, comparisons on the level of trade can be
drawn year by year.

24.Labour & Human Resource Statistics


This data source gives data about the number of people employed,
unemployed, & different programs that are being conducted for the
training purpose of employees.
