About the organization: (Write a brief note about the organization in 200-300 words )
____________________________________________________________________________
Collaborations among multiple organizations are simple in theory, but difficult in practice. Making
them work requires a backbone organization that pays close attention to the needs of all participants.
Getting people from across the public, private, and civil sectors to effectively work together
comes down to one fundamental question: How do you get people to work with you who don’t
work for you? We humans excel at getting people to work with us who do work for us.
Hierarchy, command-and-control, contractual relationships, and volumes of management theory
tell us how to make these relationships work.

Facilitation and coordination within a partnership are notable when they fail, and unnoticed when
they succeed. Partners will likely never vote to have a backbone organization and may attribute
the backbone organization’s success to their own ability to work well together. Only when it
doesn’t work, when coordination breaks down and balls get dropped, or partners start to fight
with one another, will people miss the backbone organization.
About the Project(s): (Write a brief note about the current project(s) of the organization and what kind of
impact the organization is creating. Who are getting benefitted with these projects? (Pls. write in about 200 words)

Before we take a look at the role of a project manager, let’s have a look at what project
management is.
Project management is the process of monitoring, handling and delivering a project that
is aligned to meet particular goals. This process includes initiating the project, planning
its course, executing the plan, controlling the workflow and closing the project. These
goals or more simply known as a project are usually aimed at designing a unique
product to add value to a business. Typically, these goals have to be achieved in a high
time and resource constraint.
Digging a little deeper into the 5 phases of project management, they are as follows:
1. Project Initiation: This included examining whether the project idea will benefit the
organization or not. Also, the ability to practically execute the project is also analyzed.
2. Project Planning: The next step is formulating a project plan which is usually put in
writing. It outlines all the work that is to be performed during the development process.

3. Project Execution: Once the planning is completed, the resources and tasks are
distributed and teams are informed of their responsibilities. The team then move on to
start working on their assigned tasks.
4. Project Control: In this phase, the project status and progress is compared to the
actual plan, as the teams continue to perform their work. During this phase, if required,
adjustments to resources and schedules are made to keep the work on track.
5. Project Close: Once all tasks are completed and the project has been approved, the
project is closed and its history goes through an evaluation phase which highlights the
successes and things to learn from this development cycle.
Now that Project Management is pretty clear, we move on to take a look at how project
managers actually fit the role.
In the project management phases mentioned above, each phase is a pillar of utmost
importance. If you think skipping a step of these would be fine, you might want to think
again because neglecting even one of these steps will jeopardize the success of your
whole project.
In a short answer to the importance of project managers, it is the fact that they are the
ones who carry out all the above mentioned processes. Not the developers, not the
designers but only the Project Managers have the capability of putting your project
through all the important phases for it to succeed. Removing or even replacing them
can seriously damage the development process. This is especially a big problem in
outsourcing projects , among others.

What is culture?
The attitude, traits and behavioural patterns which govern the way an individual
interacts with others is termed as culture. Culture is something which one inherits
from his ancestors and it helps in distinguishing one individual from the other.
Every organization has a unique culture making it different from the other and
giving it a sense of direction. It is essential for the employees to understand the
culture of their workplace to adjust well.

Organization A
In organization A, the employees are not at all disciplined and are least bothered
about the rules and regulations. They reach their office at their own sweet time and
spend their maximum time gossiping and loitering around.
Organization B
This organization follows employee friendly policies and it is mandatory for all to
adhere to them. It is important for the employees to reach their workplace on time
and no one is allowed to unnecessarily roam around or spread rumours.
No two organizations can have the same culture. The values or policies of a non-
profit organization would be different from that of a profit-making entity or
employees working in a restaurant would follow a different culture as compared to
those associated with education industry or a manufacturing industry.
