SARIMANOK

ARTIST IDEAS/INSPIRATION OF HIS


ARTWORK
The artwork by Mr. Imao presents mostly curvy lines in
order to form the subject, which is known as the Sarimanok,
and its surroundings, which are specifically four different
sized fish. This form was inspired by a Maranao legend
which has several different versions. Imao takes great
inspiration from his Islamic faith in making his work
Sarmanok. When an onlooker first looks at the artwork, he
or she would notice the Sarimanok and then the fishes.

ART MATERIALS USED


The materials used by the artist are acrylic paints (several
sorts of colors), canvas, paint brush, pencil and wood. The
said materials were used to make the artwork more

THEME OR SUBJECT MATTER


The subject matter of the painting/artwork depicts a ABOUT THE ARTIST
bird with colorful wings and feathered tail on it, BORN: 14 January 1936
holding a fish with its beak. It is a creature of Southern Siasi, Sulu, Philippine Commonwealth
