BAND AID

DO THEY KNOW IT’S CHRISTMAS?

Band Aid was a group of of famous musicians, founded in 1984 by Bob

Geldof to raise money for anti-poverty work in Ethiopia. The group made
the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for Christmas that year. The
song was a massive success and raised millions of pounds for Ethiopia.

Because Band Aid was so successful, they recorded the song again in 1989
and 2009 with different musicians each time.

Here you are going to listen to the 1984 version of the song.

Listen to the music and complete the missing words.

It's Christmas time,
there's no need to be ___________.
At Christmas time,
we let in life and we banish shade.

And in our world of plenty,

We can spread a smile of joy.
Throw your arms around
the ___________ at Christmas time.

But, say a prayer,

Pray for the other ones.
At Christmas time, it's
hard but when you’re ____________ fun.
There's a world outside your _______________
and it's a world of dread and fear,
Where the only _____________ flowing is
the bitter sting of tears.
And the Christmas bells that
ring there are the clanging chimes of doom.
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of ___________.

And there won't be ____________ in Africa

This Christmas time.
The greatest gift they'll get this year
is _________.. Ooh..
Where nothing ever grows, no rain
or __________ flow.
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Here's to you, raise your glass for ________________

And here's to them underneath that burning __________.
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Feed the world.

Feed the world.
