Background

JESA Farm Dairy is a leading dairy brand in Uganda founded in 1989 by the late Mr. James Mulwana. From its
small beginnings producing only raw milk, JESA has grown to become a home grown, commercial success story
and a flagship East African consumer brand. Today, the JESA brand, with its wide range of fresh, dairy products
namely: fresh pasteurized milk, UHT Milk, Yoghurt, Butter, Fresh Cream and Cream Cheese; has come to symbolize
great taste, high quality, and innovation.

JESA/HR/PDN/01: HEAD OF ENGINEERING (01 VACANCY)

Job Summary
To coordinate plant machines maintenance to maximize the production demand of high quality in line with the
company set targets and objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities


• Develop and implement the maintenance schedule.
• Ensure that machines are maintained effectively to maximize the production demand of high quality and
safe product as per management set targets and objectives.
• Coordinate installation and maintenance automated production systems.
• Monitor the energy consumption cost and set corrective action to optimize the cost of production below the
set target.
• Control and organize the implementation of the daily, weekly, and monthly activities plans for the
department.
• Monthly monitoring and control of the maintenance expenditures against budget.
• Ensure 100% compliance of the standards maintenance procedures for equipment as per the ISO 22000.
• Advise to the management on the plant machinery performance.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
• Monitor the management of spare parts in collaboration with inventory to limit shortage and usage control.
• Manage the maintenance team, through allocation of responsibilities, monitoring staff performance and
training and development of staff.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering obtained from an internationally recognized
institution.

Working Experience

A minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience with at least 2 years’ supervisory experience.

JESA/HR/PDN/02: UTILITIES MAINTENANCE MANAGER (01 VACANCY)

Job Summary
Lead the Plant Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance
service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure to meet production demand and quality
standards.

Key Roles and Responsibilities


• Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensure full preventative maintenance is
carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively.
• Manage the team to ensure machine availability, reactively managing dysfunctional machinery with the
Shift management.
• Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and
pneumatic systems are undertaken.
• Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant, and equipment from drawing up the
specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
• Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the
engagement of external resources as required.
• Manage, coach, and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives, and
which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
• Anticipate the future health of equipment as per available data and equipment performance trends and
quickly planning accordingly.
• Carryout risk assessment for every maintenance job to be done either internally or by contractors.

JESA/HR/PDN/03: MAINTENANCE PLANNER (02 VACANCIES)

Job Summary
Coordinate the maintenance functions of the plant and equipment and make all the plant and equipment
available to meet production demand and quality standards.

Key Roles and Responsibilities


• Develop, implement, and follow up of annual maintenance plans and schedules for the plant and
machinery.
• Plan and monitor the implementation of the planned maintenance system, plant performance and cost
reduction to run and deliver high quality and quantity of products.
• Ensure 100% compliance to the documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) on equipment’s as
per the ISO 22000
• Monitor and control of the maintenance expenditures against budget and advise the Engineering
manager.
• Undertake energy usage analysis for the plant and advice on the best saving opportunities.
• Collect the data, report, and advise on the plant operation and performance
• Monitor the spare parts usage for the respective equipment and making timely requests for the spare
parts.
• Follow up on planned maintenance jobs done to ensure that there were executed as per plan with the
right spares used and closing out the jobs on maintenance pro so as to close the maintenance loop.
• Carryout quality assurance for maintenance jobs done that will result into required production quantities
and quality.

JESA/HR/PDN/04: INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN (02 VACANCIES)

Job Summary
Under direction, participates in performing a wide variety of skilled tasks including installation, repairs,
troubleshooting, planning, modification, design, installation and calibration of instrumentation, electrical systems
for plant and utilities and trains staff in the operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic
instrumentation equipment.

Key Roles and Responsibilities


• High level troubleshooting of automation equipment like VFDs, flow meters, process controllers and PLCs
• Calibrate plant instruments.
• Carryout RCAs on automation failures.
• Guide planning on automation spares requirement and test equipment.
• Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as

Job Summary
To support operations by maintaining, checking, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing of equipment and
facilities of the plant.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical plant equipment.


• Carryout preventive, predictive and corrective repairs to ensure longer equipment life cycle.
• Resolve breakdowns in time so as not to affect total production output or product quality.
• Perform and provide accurate information in the root cause analysis process.
• Participate in modifications, installations and decommissioning of equipment.
• Carryout hourly monitoring of process equipment activities e.g., sealing temperatures, cooling, steam
temperature so as to ensure that processes are operating as per manufacturers recommendations, safe for
product quality, equipment performance and production output.
• Test new materials on equipment through monitoring and adjusting parameters to achieve optimal process
realization.
• Inspect and ensure that utilities are available for plant processing i.e., water, steam, compressed air, chilled
water etc. repair the necessary utility equipment.

Job Summary
To support operations by maintaining, checking, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing of equipment and

JESA/HR/PDN/07: BOILER OPERATOR (04 VACANCIES)

Job Summary
To operate, check, monitor and clean the boiler/ boiler house while ensuring sufficient steam supply is available
when required by any equipment.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Maintain constant steam supply and pressure to the factory or process.


• Maintain constant supply of fuel to the boiler.
• Operate all machinery, component parts, controls related to the boiler plant safely and efficiently.
• Recognize malfunction operation of the machinery, the component parts and know when and how to
take effective action.
• Maintain correct water conditioning and levels in the system, as well as correct temperature of the water in
the makeup tank.
• Add the required chemicals when necessary or as instructed.
• Maintain correct chemical levels in the chemical tanks.
• Observe ignition and fire from rear peepholes on a continuous basis.
• Test the safety valves weekly and clean the boiler and boiler house regularly.

Job Summary
To support operations by maintaining, checking, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing of refrigeration
equipment and facilities of the plant.

Job Summary
To operate, check, monitor and clean utility equipment.

Job Summary
Operate the forklift during the movement of goods and materials.

• Transport finished products from the factory to the warehouse or packing area for dispatch

Job Summary
To mix and blend food ingredients to produce various yogurts, juices, and flavored milk products as per
formulations

Key Roles and Responsibilities


• Set up and operate equipment such as the: pasteurizer, mixers, scales, meters, pumps, pallet lifts, CIP) to start
the production cycle after brief on production plan from his/her supervisor or blender on previous shift.
• Carry out pre-operation checks for equipment cleaning and sanitation before starting the processing of
product mixes involving carrying out CIP on yogurt pasteurizer, product lines, batching lines and mix tanks in
absence of CIP operator.
• Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, or products to ensure conformance to requirements and also test
samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment.
• Operate or tend machines to mix or blend any of a wide variety of materials; this includes weighing
ingredients (sugar, powders, colors, flavors); check and inspect ingredients, batch temperature consistently
for normalcy before culturing/mixing for early of product quality defects.
• Comply with the daily production plan with efficiency; in operation of mix room equipment, monitor raw
material usage on each blend are added correctly to avoid overflows.
• Request materials from warehouse for daily use according to the production schedule and keep balance
inventory in proper storage containers
• Complete all paperwork and batch documentation in timely manner for food safety and traceability.
• Follow standard operating procedures for production of safe product and personal safety with constant use
of PPES in handling hazardous chemicals.
• Carry out product mix sampling for Quality control team to check physical and chemical parameters before
processing.
• Carry out daily and weekly inspection on mixer and yogurt pasteurizer to identify areas which of urgent
service, carry out minor service like replacing worn out parts and also assist in planned maintenance.

the required standards

Job Summary
Sterilize and sanitize equipment used to process milk, cream, and other dairy products; disassemble and clean
processing equipment in safe and efficient manner following established procedures.

Key Roles and Responsibilities


• Clean and sanitize equipment, tanks and pipelines used in the production line.
• Dismantle processing equipment after production from operating position to cleaning format before setting
CIP program.
• Complete basic preventive maintenance of parts with attention to gaskets, seals, O-rings, plates and on all
product contact surfaces.
• Ensure 100% microbiological index is attained for microbiological safety and report any areas of
improvement through documentation and record all relevant information
(paperwork/checklists/verifications) required by procedures and for accountability and traceability.
• trouble shooting in areas of CIP failures through checks and weekly inspections for early detection of CIP
errors and aid in planned maintenance services.
• Prepare, mix, and check detergents for use in the CIP station following standard chemical preparation
procedures and make timely requisitions and accountability for chemical usage, siting inefficiencies to CIP
supervisor for improvement.
• Comply with safety guidelines when handling hazardous chemicals, equipment with moving parts or around
electricity through following standard operating procedures and use of personal protective equipment
(PPES) to reduce on incidents of chemical injury accidents.

JESA/HR/PDN/15: BUTTER MAKER (02 VACANCIES)

Job Summary
To operate machinery and equipment used in the production of butter and fresh cream and work with associates
to meet department and company product quality and production rate standards safely and effectively.

Key Roles and Responsibilities


• Separation of cream from raw milk processing to Fresh milk, UHT and Yogurt is properly pasteurized before
use in the fresh cream and butter product realization
• Carry out pre-operation checks for equipment cleaning and sanitation before starting the processing of
churning butter; this may involve monitoring the cultured butter for maturation, cooling.
• Set up and operate the butter churner following the standard operating procedure, ensuring quality butter
is generated.
• Operate the butter filling machine to ensure that the churned butter and fresh cream is packed as per
schedule and product type (salted or unsalted case of butter), adhering to product specifications.
• Clean and sanitize pasteurizer for cream processing, butter churner, product lines, incubation tanks, cream,
and butter filling machines before production
• Perform quality control checks on fresh cream and butter before packing in accordance with company
policy and procedures to meet standards involving testing of the physical, chemical, organoleptic checks
of smell and microbiological analysis.
• Perform minor adjustments and routine maintenance in accordance with procedures and instructions and
also assist in preventive maintenance and major repair work during maintenance shutdowns.
• Ensure that all production materials are readily available for timely start up during filling operations which
may involve accountability of packaging materials on floor and reduction in wastages.
• Count and verify finished product stocks, by production team leader and signed off in stock handover book
to stores.
• Follow and comply with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards. This is involving majorly
use of personal protective equipment (PPES).
• Report any deviation, human error, or problem faced during production on equipment to supervisor/QC to
ensure support from the line support team.

Job Summary
To operate machinery and equipment used in the production of Ambient Yoghurt and work with associates to

• Plans with the Factory Engineer in relation to required consumables and machine maintenance
• Operate the Ambient yoghurt packing machines.
• Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products according to
