Method: 1. Set up the apparatus as shown in the diagram.

2. Measure and record the original length of the spring before adding any
load.

3. Measure and record the new length of the spring, each time a load is added.

4. Calculate and record the extension of the spring for each load.

Extension = New length - Original length

5. Plot a graph of load, F against extension, ∆x.

6. Find the gradient of the graph.

F = K ∆x Where K = Spring Constant
