MECHANICS AND CRITERIA FOR JUDGING, AND VIOLATIONS AND DEDUCTION OF POINTS

ESSAY WRITING CONTEST


Mechanics
1. Each department shall have one (1) contestant who is officially enrolled for the first semester of the
A.Y. 2021-2022.
2. The contestants shall be present at school in the afternoon during the contest proper (November 29,
2021 1:00 pm). Upon entering the school premise, the contestants must ensure they are wearing their
face masks and face shield following the safety health protocols.
3. Each contestant shall bring two (2) black ballpoint pens and three (3) clean sheets of short bond paper.
4. Each contestant shall be writing an essay with regards to the picture that they have chosen.
5. Each contestant shall be choosing their picture to be analyzed through picking a piece of rolled paper
containing a number respective to the pictures that will be shown out from a box that is provided by the
council.
6. Before the contest begins, the contestant must turn over their phones to the SSC Officer assigned.
7. Each contestant shall only be given an hour to write and organize their thoughts.
8. The contestant can only begin writing after the facilitator gave his/her go signal.
9. Once the writing has begun, the contestants are prohibited to talk with one another.
10. The contestants must place a # sign at the end of their work.
11. After an hour, the SSC officer will collect their final work along with their drafts.
12. The essay must be written in English.
13. Time extensions are not allowed.
Criteria for Judging
 50% Content (Relevance to the theme chosen, comprehensiveness, originality, insights)
Relevance to the theme chosen – connection, significance of the issue being discussed
Comprehensiveness – how complete and detailed the writer’s exposition of the topic
Originality – uniqueness, novelty and authenticity of ideas
Insights – critical view of the subject
 30% Organization (Clarity of thoughts, Creativity, Unity and Consistency)
Clarity of Thoughts – use of simple and appropriate words to convey ideas
Creativity – the use of appropriate devices and expressions in the exposition of subject
Unity and Consistency - ability to highlight the focal point
 20% Mechanics (Punctuation, Spelling, Capitalization, Grammar)

Deduction of Points
1. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if he/she will arrive after 1:00 PM in the
venue.
2. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if he/she was not able to use a black
ballpoint pen.
3. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if he/she uses foul words in his/her
essay.
4. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if he/she was not able to use/bring short
bond paper during the contest.
5. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if he/she was not able to put the # sign
at the end of his/her work.
6. The contestant will automatically be disqualified if he/she used any gadgets during the contest.
7. The contestant will automatically be disqualified after the first warning if he/she still engaged with a
conversation to his/her co-contestants or to others.

SLOGAN MAKING CONTEST


1. Each department shall have one (1) pair of contestants who are officially enrolled for the first semester
of the A.Y. 2021-2022.
2. The contestants shall be present at school in the afternoon during the contest proper (November 29,
2021 1:00 pm). Upon entering the school premise, the contestants must ensure they are wearing their
face masks and face shield following the safety health protocols.
3. The contestants shall use ¼ illustration board in illustrating their works.
4. The contestants shall only use pentel pen, colored pens and markers, and oil pastel as a means of
coloring.
5. Upon starting, the contestants shall ensure to film their selves while doing their work using time-lapse.
6. The contestants must observe safety protocols upon doing their works.
Criteria for Judging
 45% Content and Relevance to the theme
 20% Organization
 20% 0verall impact
 10% Grammar and Mechanics
 5% Originality
TOTAL: 100%
Deduction of Points
1. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if they use other coloring materials
aside from the aforementioned materials to be used in coloring their work.
2. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if they arrived after 1:00 PM at the
venue.
3. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if there is only one representative
instead of a pair.

PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST WITH A STORY


1. Open to all college students of Notre-Dame Siena College of Polomolok who are officially enrolled for the
first semester of the A.Y. 2021-2022.
2. Photos must be taken in the vicinity of Polomolok, South Cotabato.
3. DSLR, Point-and-Shoot, and Camera Phones are allowed.
4. Each department will only be allowed to submit one entry.
5. Theme for photography contest will be announced later.
6. Taking photographs must be done with discretion. Otherwise, the entry will be disqualified.
7. All entries must be in digital form (JPEG format) and must be submitted via Gmail on or before the deadline
which will be announced later. Entries submitted beyond the deadline will automatically be disqualified. Each
photographer can only submit one entry. For each entry, a photo must be submitted together with the following
attachments:
a. Receipt/Ticket of SSC Membership.
b. Complete details of the photographer, department and year level.
c. A story caption originally composed not less than 3 sentences and not more than 5 sentences.
8. The Contest Committee shall have no liability for delayed, corrupted or lost entries.
9. All entries must be an original material taken by the photographer and should not include watermarks,
signatures, frames, date and/or time stamp or any other markings on the photo.
10. Digital manipulation is not allowed. Enhancements must be limited to basic postprocessing such as
adjustments of contrast, minimal color- balancing, sharpening, cropping, dodging and burning.
11. Entries must be unpublished and exclusive to this contest within the duration of the photo contest.
12. For the Judges; Criteria for judging are as follows:
Relevance to theme (20%) How well does the photo meet the criteria of the category it is in
Composition (20%) Well placement of interest in the photo, absence of distracting elements
Creativity (20%) Subject matter pictured in a unique way or shown from an interesting
point of view, demonstrated originality, used light in interesting ways
Technical Quality (20%) In focus, lighting in balance, depth of field considered, appropriate
shutter speed
Overall Impression (20%) Able to grab the viewer's attention, 'wow' factor
13. There will be first, second and third places in each category.
14.Deadline for Submission of Entries is on November 28, 2021 at exactly 1 pm.
15. All entries shall be submitted to the SSC’s email address [email protected].
Deduction of Points
1. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if he/she had taken the photo outside
Polomolok.
2. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if he/she used any digital manipulation
except for the aforementioned manipulations.
3. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the participant if he/she was not able to submit his/her
work in a jpeg format.
4. The contestant will automatically be disqualified if it is not an original work.
5. The contestant will automatically be disqualified if the participant was not able to comply all the
attachments needed.

SITCOM
Mechanics
1. Each department shall have one (1) group consisting of six (6) to eight (8) members that are officially
enrolled for the first semester of the A.Y. 2021-2022.
2. Each group shall create a minimum of five (5) minutes and a maximum of seven (7) minutes
comedy video.
3. The entry should be an original piece.
4. The script shall not include foul words and explicit words and vulgar actions that are not suitable for
young viewers.
5. The script can be in English, Filipino, vernacular (ensuring that everyone can understand the language
chosen), or a mix of the aforementioned languages.
6. Each group are prohibited to wear vulgar and explicit clothes.
7. All members of the group shall be wearing face shields as part of their costume.
8. The video can be taken indoors or outdoors while observing the safety health protocols.
9. Each group are not allowed to use any video effects except for the transitions.
10. Deadline of submission will be on November 28, 2021 at exactly 1 pm to be submitted at

Deduction of Points
1. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the group if the group did not meet the minimum count
of members or exceeded the maximum count of members.
2. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the group if the group did not meet the minimum length
of the video or exceeded the maximum length of the video.
3. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the group if the group used inappropriate costumes.
4. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the group if a member of the group was not wearing a
face shield.
5. 2 points will be deducted to the overall score of the group if there are any video effects except for
transitions.
6. The group will be DISQUALIFIED if almost everyone/every one of them were not wearing face shield.

Parol Making Contest


Mechanics
1. The competition is open to all students who are officially enrolled at NDSCP (A.Y 2021-2022)
2. Every department should make only one Large Parol (a length of 2.5 feet by a width of 2.5 feet and by
a height of 3.5 feet).
3. Each department shall have one group consisting of 3-5 members.
4. All departments can innovatively use recycled and indigenous materials only.
5. The output should be done according to their chosen place before bringing it at school.
6. Documentation is need as proof that the department personally made the parol. Picture of the final
output, the materials used (before making the parol), and time lapse should be presented before the
final judging via email [email protected].
7. Deadline of submission is on November 28,2021 @ 1 pm.
Criteria for Judging:
Craftsmanship 30%
Creativity and durability 30%
Originality and Uniqueness 25%
Overall impact. 15%

Deduction of points:
 If not purely indigenous and recyclable materials are used. (2points)
 If the given size is not exactly applied. (2points)
 If there are outsiders who are not allowed in the process of making the parol. (2points)
 If the department didn’t reach the minimum and the maximum members will automatically
(DISQUALIFIED).

MINIMAL HEALTH PROTOCOLS SHOULD BE OBSERVED AT ALL TIME 😊

Caroling Competition
Mechanincs
1. The competition is open to all students who are officially enrolled at NDSCP for the first semester of the
A.Y 2021-2022.
2. Each department shall have one group consisting of 8-10 members.
3. Time duration for caroling competition must be minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes.
4. Every department can use any minus 1 music for the tune but the lyrics should be originally composed
5. Entries can be written in English & Filipino
6. The overall presentation should have a touch of semi-theatrical play, and should be sang by the
department’s chosen student/s
7. The video must be shoot indoors or outdoors as long as the participants observe proper health
protocols.
8. Video effects are not allowed except for transitions.
9. Any musical instrument can be used as accompaniment.
10. Health protocols must be observed and face shield is part of the costume
11. All entries will be judged based on content, originality, musicality, and presentation.
12. A board of judges will be selected for the contest. Their decisions should be final and irrevocable.

Deduction of points:
 If the department didn’t reach the minimum and the maximum members will automatically be
DISQUALIFIED.
 If the participants are not wearing face shield (2points)
 If the final output has any video effects (2points)
 If the music is not minus 1 (2points)
 If the participants are wearing blasphemous attires (DISQUALIFIED)
 If the department didn’t follow or reach the minimum and maximum time. (2points)

Paskuhan Spoken Poetry


Mechanics
1. The spoken poetry contest is open for all officially enrolled student of ND-SCP.
2. There should be one (1) participant in each department.
3. The theme will be anything about the celebration of Christmas.
4. The entry should be an original piece.
5. The spoken poetry will be in the form of video and not in actual performance.
6. This can be performed indoor or outdoor.
7. Time allotted for each participant will be 3 minutes minimum and 5 minutes maximum.
8. Strictly, foul words and inhumane actions are prohibited.
9. The spoken poetry will be in FILIPINO form and wears formal attire.
10. Deadline of submission will be on November 28, 2021 at exactly 1 pm to be submitted at
[email protected]
11. The video will be posted during the culmination of Online Paskuhan sa Siena 2021 on December 03,
2021.
Criteria for judging:
1. Content and Relevance to the theme: 30%
2. Clarity of voice: 30%
3. Appropriate hand and body gestures: 20%
4. Creativity and Originality: 20%

Deduction of points
1. Not wearing proper attire -2 points
2. Using foul words and gestures -5 points
3. Not following minimum and maximum time -2 points
4. Not an original piece - DISQUALIFIED

ROLEPLAYING CONTEST
Mechanics
1. Each department shall have one (1) group consisting of eight (8) to ten (10) members who are
officially enrolled for the first semester of the A.Y. 2021-2022.
2. Each group shall be selecting the scenes they have to present through picking a piece of paper out
from a box.
3. Each group shall create a video accord to the scene that they have chosen with a minimum of four (4)
minutes and a maximum of six (6) minutes.
4. Everyone shall observe the safety health protocols upon filming.
5. Everyone must wear face shield as part of their costume.
6. Each group shall consider their props and costume that it is not, in any way, vulgar and inappropriate
for young audiences and inappropriate to the sacredness of the scenes.
7. The video can be shoot indoors or outdoors.
8. The script shall be in English form only or Filipino form only.
9. Video effects are not allowed except for transitions.
10. Deadline of submission will be on November 28, 2021 at exactly 1 pm to be submitted at
[email protected]
11. The video will be posted during the culmination of Online Paskuhan sa Siena 2021 on December 03,
2021.

7. The group will be DISQUALIFIED if almost everyone/every one of them were not wearing face shield.

OVERALL DEDUCTIONS FOR EACH DEPARTMENT


1. 10 points will be deducted to the overall points of the department if opted to shoot inside the school
campus for any events except for the photo essay writing contest and slogan making contest.
2. 10 points will be deducted to the overall points of the department if they had submitted all of their
outputs online late.
3. 10 points will be deducted to the overall points of the department if the department did not follow the
instructions on submitting the outputs.
4. 10 points will be deducted to the overall points of the department if the department opted to change
their players after submitting the official list of participants for each event.
5. 10 points will be deducted to the overall points of the department if any entries including videos and
photographs was sent to any group chats before the event.
