    Unit 14 The FIFA World Cup

    - First of all, I’d like to send my warm welcome to miss Thu and the whole class.
    My name’s Ha Nguyen and I’m here today to present to you my ideas for the
    topic of World Cup.
    - To begin my presentation, I’ve got an image to show you guys
    - Can anyone of you let me know which sport are these kids playing ?
    - Your answer is totally correct. They’re playing football, a sport that I believe
    there’s hardly any of us who doesn’t know it.
    - Needless to say, for centuries, football has unfailingly been an indispensable part
    of human’s lives morally and physically. From humble beginning, the game has
    increased rapidly in popularity and become the sporting phenomenon it is today.
    Nowadays, it is not an overstatement to say that football is the king of all sports.
    - These days, around the globe are numerous football tournaments, some of the
    most renowned ones I can name are
    - The UEFA Champion league, an European cup for clubs only
    - The UEFA Euro, a competition in which European nations compete
    - Nevertheless, there’s an international tournament wherein football is able to
    provide an arena for big and small nations to celebrate in the unification of sport.
    - Now can you guess what the name of this tournament is ?
    - The FIFA World Cup, often simply called the World Cup, is an international
    association football competition contested by the senior men’s national teams of
    the member countries of FIFA, the sport’s global governing body.
    - The World Cup Championship has been awarded every four years ever since it
    was established in 1930. As a matter of fact, the World Cup is definitely the most
    prestigious association football tournament, as well as the most viewed and
    influenced sporting event the world over.
    - Being able to take part in the World cup is regarded as a huge privilege for any
    footballer. Footballers play enthusiastically during the World cup as they
    represent their nations with lots of honor. Throughout years of history, the
    tournament’s witnessed many great goals and glorious moments. Watching and
    encouraging national teams also lets fans immerse with tears of joy and
    happiness.
    - For all of the reasons I mentioned above, I rather believe that football is truly the
    only world game and the World Cup might just also remind our society of the
    importance of an open and fluid global connectedness.
