Features
Cylinder cushioning
Volvo excavators are equipped with hydraulic cylinders
which have long strokes and internal cushioning for smooth
operation and long life.

The bucket cylinder provides excellent bucket rotational

angles for good material retention and dumping capabilities
in any jobsite conditions.

Lubrication points
Remote greasing points for boom and arm are grouped
together on the boom base area and side of the arm,
allowing easy service access.

All lubrication points are well protected, with double sealed

bucket pins. The mounting pins are chrome plated for
better lubrication retention and longer life.

Arm priority
The main control valve contains an arm priority valve,
which directs flow from the pump to the arm circuit
automatically when required. The benefit for the customer
is increased speed when performing leveling or dumping
operations.

Strong boom and arm

Volvo excavator booms and arms are designed to cope with
any jobsite conditions and for long lifetime. Mounting
blocks for additional piping are pre-installed. Hammer and
shear piping are factory installed options.

Features
Boom priority
The main control valve is equipped with a boom priority
valve - allowing the operator to increase the boom raise
speed.

Tracks
The track shoes have double grousers and cleaning holes
allowing the drive sprockets to push out any soft material
having entered the chain.

The track shoe width is 650 mm, 750 mm and 900 mm

(26', 30' and 35'), meaning excellent versatility for all
jobsite conditions.

Track pins and bushings

The track pins and bushings of the undercarriage are greased
and sealed to reduce travel noise and extend track life.

Mid-section
The car body frame is "X" shaped to provide a natural flow
of forces from the swing bearing to the track frames. The
underside of the frame is covered with a steel plate to
protect the hydraulic hoses and the swivel joint. This design
will provide long life of the lower frame and components. A
heavy duty steel cover plate is available as an option.

Features
Filtering system
The multi stage filtering system enhances the durability and
reliability of the major hydraulic components by reducing
oil contamination. This provides long service life of
hydraulic pumps, motors and valves.

Pressure relief system

The accumulator maintains pilot pressure for a short time in
the event of an engine / pilot pump failure. As such, the
operator can lower the attachment to the ground during the
interruption.

It also controls the hydraulic line pressure to the cylinders,

which means easier to service.

Cold weather start-up aids

Electric air-intake heater with block heater is standard,
while diesel coolant heater and water separator with heater
are available as options. These items greatly facilitates
engine start-up in very cold weather. It also prolongs engine
life.

Fast and strong swing speed

A high swing torque is guaranteed thanks to the planetary
type swing reduction unit. The swinging is smooth and fast
thanks to special shockless valves. A swing holding brake
ensures that the superstructure is fixed during work and
transport. The swing system will provide a long and reliable
service life.

Features
Swing bearing
The swing bearing turret is welded to both the top and
bottom plates of the frame, providing a smooth distribution
of forces between the swing bearing and the undercarriage.
The swing bearing is bolted to a steel ring at the top of the
turret. The swing bearing is greased from 3 lube points on
the front side.

Excellent serviceability
The service walkways are available on both sides of the
machine and equipped with anti-slip surface. They provide
easy access to major service and maintenance points, which
are grouped together for easier serviceability. Both the large,
easy-to-open side doors and hood are provided with locks.

3-stage air cleaner

The engine air cleaning system is done in three stages. The
air is taken in through the standard rain cap or dual stage
pre-cleaner (option), and is then filtered by a primary and
secondary filter.

A warning lamp indicates when the filters need serviced.

Holding valves
Standard boom and arm holding valves minimize cylinder
drift when lifting or waiting to load a truck. The holding
valves are mounted within the main control valve for
improved reliability. Smoother operation and improved
lifting characteristics.

Features
Hydraulic pumps
The engine drives 2 tandem-mounted variable displacement
axial piston pumps. The hydraulic pumps are supplied from
a major vendor that supplies pumps to other hydraulic
excavator manufacturers. The hydraulic pumps are a high
quality design and very reliable.

Low-emission engine
The Tier 3 low emission engine burns the fuel efficiently,
reducing harmful waste products to a minimum without
sacrificing power. The engine complies with federal EPA
emission requirements in the USA, as well as with
California off-road 1996 laws.

Well-matched engine
The engine and hydraulic system are so well matched that it
is virtually only during high production loading or trenching
that the engine has to be run at full speed. In many jobsite
applications, the operator can choose a lower rpm, which
provides lower fuel consumption, longer life and reduced
noise levels.

Remote hydraulic oil cooler

The hydraulic motor driven fan maximises heat dissipation
and increases cooling capacity. Remote mounted.

Features
Track guards
Track guards guide the track chain between the flanges of
the bottom rollers when the undercarriage is turned or
counter-rotated on uneven terrain. This prevents
unnecessary wear on the track links and bottom rollers. The
risk of derailing is also minimized. Track guards permit
operation in rough jobsite condition and increase track chain
life.

Visibility
Good visibility and operator comfort increase operator
productivity. The tinted roof provides additional overhead
visibility.

Hydraulic dampening cab mounts

The cab is supported by five dampening mounts, which
significantly reduce shock, vibration and noise transmitted
to the cab. This improves the operator environment.

Emergency engine speed control system

In the event of engine controller failure, the operator may
use the manual throttle control and computer bypass system
to maintain operation until a technician has checked the
error.

Features
Adjustable operator seat and control console
The adjustable seat and control consoles can be adjusted
separately to fit operators of different sizes. The standard
heated seat has 8 adjustment levels, suspension, seat belt
and wide armrests, which can be individually adjusted.

Low noise design

The EC700B generates very low noise levels thanks to the
sound absorption material in the cab, engine and pump
compartments. Ideal for operations in urban areas or during
nights.

One touch power boost

The power boost increases the breakout forces by 10% in
power Max, H and G modes. This allows operators to
power through obstacles, such as hard digging conditions,
tree roots etc. The switch is located on the right hand
joystick.

Monitoring system
The new Instrument Electronic Control Unit System
(I-ECU) constantly monitors engine and hydraulic system
performance and supplies the operator with the needed
information in a read-friendly format. When X1 option for
hammer or shear attachment is used, the hydraulic oil flow
can be controlled with a click of a button.

I-ECU is equipped with a 4 digit password code-lock

function. If the password is incorrect the engine will not
start.

Features
Air conditioning & heating system
The standard cab features an integrated air conditioning and
heating system. The air flows through 8 ducts for cooling,
heating and ventilation, which reduces the entry of dust and
dirt particles from the outside, leading to better operator
comfort.

Contronics
The Contronics control system ensures balanced engine
power with hydraulic pump in order to provide maximum
production and minimal fuel consumption in various work
conditions. It automatically sets the engine power and work
mode for optimum machine performance.

Auto idling system

The automatic idling system lowers the engine rpm to idle
after 5 seconds of inactivity, leading to reduced fuel
consumption, exhaust emissions, noise and improved
jobsite conditions.

Swing priority
Return oil flow from the arm cylinder rod side can be
reused on the arm cylinder piston side when the arm is
moved to its inner position. This allows a high percentage of
pump oil flow to the swing circuit for a faster swing
movement.

updated regularly with latest improvements. An option of
professional maintenance for attachments is available.

White Agreement
The White Agreement is a program of regular machine
inspections carried out by the experts – Volvo service
trained technicians. The inspections result in comprehensive
inspection reports to help with preventative maintenance,
support extended warranties and enhance the value of your
machine at resale. Furthermore, the White Agreement
offers regular proactive machine analysis to assist in ensuring
ongoing maximum productivity.

Silver Agreement
The Silver Agreement offers complete flexibility in the way
the agreement is put together – with the option to alter
details, including the budget, during the course of the
agreement. It also allows you to spread the cost of
inspections, maintenance and even major repairs to reduce
the impact on cash flow. A provision for including major
specialist repairs that might be beyond your site engineers,
such as driveline and engine.

Gold Agreement
The Gold Agreement is chosen to give a complete peace of
mind over the availability of your Volvo machine and
removes the need for any on-site engineering facility. Fixed
costs are guaranteed for the life of the agreement (excluding
site damage). An excellent machine history when it comes
to resale, with everything verified by Volvo engineers.
