PROPOSAL FOR

Employees-Attendance-System-via-Fingerprint

Submitted By: Mohammad Hamid “Azizi”

Session: Evening

Year: 1400
1. Introduction
A fingerprint is an influence or lines of an impression from the friction ridges, from the floor of a
fingertip of a person's finger. A friction ridge is a raised part of the epidermis on the fingers and
includes one or extra linked ridge units of friction ridge skin Those ridges additionally assist in
gripping rough surfaces, as well as clean wet surfaces. Impressions of fingerprints may be left
behind on a floor with the aid of the herbal secretions of sweat from the eccrine glands which can
be present in friction ridge pores and skin, or they will be made via ink or other materials
transferred from the peaks of friction ridges at the pores and skin to a pretty easy floor including
a fingerprint card Fingerprint attendance system purpose is to automate the manual attendance
management using the unique properties of the fingerprint technology.

2. Problem Statement

Traditionally, worker’s attendance is taken manually by using attendance sheet. With this
manual system, there are some cases that worker can cheat. This occurs because the worker’s
just wanted to fulfill 100% of the attendance so that they can get the full salary on this month.
Management can’t monitor for all workers in the organization and it is difficult for
management to record the attendance of worker
accurately and efficiently. Managements are responsible to monitor the entire worker’s
attendance for the whole
month. For that worker that fails to meet the 100% of their attendance rate will be given
a reminder as
warning from company. Because of this problem, a system may be needed in order to
records the attendance of the workers more accurately without have to trace manually. The
attendance management system will record the attendance of worker in industry when the
work began and at the end of work. This is to ensure that the workers have attended the work

3. Methodology
Research as a case study. A web application will be designed and installed

The system to the modules and the definition of the relationship between the constituent
modules. This process of division

The system repeats itself into modules until each module is small enough to be easily encoded as
one.

An independent entity that performs a clearly defined operation.

4. Scope
5. Personnel management is very significant in the administration and management of
organizations. Lack of security and extensive paperwork in the traditional systems reveal
that there is a need for new approach for personal verification and employee
identification technologies. In recent times, organizations have started to benefit from
fingerprints and facial recognition more than before for personnel attendance. Moreover,
the fact that no two individuals have the-same finger prints and face shape increases the
system security. It can be also asserted that, since fingerprints and facial structure
remains unchanged throughout lifetime, it remains unique and sustainable. All biometric
devices take a number of measurements from an individual then digitally process the
result of these measurements and save this representation of the individual's traits into a
template. Templates are then stored in a database associated with the device or in a
smartcard given to the individual
6. A Personnel Management System (also called Human Resource Management System),
refers to the systems and processes at the intersection between personnel management
and information technology . The most effective personnel management and the fullest
realization of its goals are largely dependent on the composition of the personnel
management system. Moreover, it is very important to understand the mechanism of its
functioning and the most appropriate choices of technologies and methods of working
with people
7. Attendance management is an indispensable part of today's contemporary personnel
management systems. It can be defined as the act of managing attendance or presence in
a work setting to minimize loss due to employee downtime. Attendance control has
traditionally been approached using time clocks and timesheets, but attendance
management goes beyond this to provide a working environment which maximizes and
motivates employee attendance . It is used in different institutions for different purposes.
8. Personnel attendance control system is a computer based electronic system that records
the entry and exit times of company personnel and provides daily and monthly reports on
these records. In addition attendance management systems divided into two groups, that
is, conventional and automated methods. Conventional methods include timesheets,
attendance management system and time clock. It requires a lot of paperwork and it is
considered as time-consuming. Automated systems include Barcode, RFID or Biometric
systems.
9. However, Barcode or RFID-based systems has some disadvantages in terms of personnel
attendance control. In barcode based or RFID-based systems, every employee must have
a badge or card and carry them to authenticate themselves. It involves several problems
associating with cards. It means that there is always a risk about forgotten or damaged
cards. In order to eliminate these problems, biometric systems have started to use in many
organizations and also in academic institutions. Biometric systems are systems that
enable verifying the identity of individual according to their unique characteristics.
10. Project Requirements

A set of functional requirements of the proposed system may include the following.

A : Functional Requirements:
A set of functional requirements of the proposed system may include the following.

1. There must be a login process for administrators and authorized users to avoid
unauthorized access to the system.
2. The system would maintain the employees’ information like name, father name, age,
salary, designation, skills, education, etc.
3. The system would maintain the family information of employees, like a number of
children, spouses, etc.
4. The system would maintain the attendance of the employees.
5. The system would maintain the leave record of the employees.
6. The system would maintain the loan information of employees if the organization
provides the facility of the loan to its employees.
7. The system would be able to generate different reports.

B : Non-functional requirements:
Security, GUI in Dari/Pashto----------,, Performance, Reliability, …
Database should be updated within a second.
Search results should be displayed within a second.
User Interface shall not take more than 3 seconds to load
Login should be validated within 2 seconds
Payment Information are protected and encrypted
In the event of failure, there should be another data server be on standby to provide
fault tolerance capability.
User Interface Requirement The UI is loaded from the server to any web browser.
And many more …

SO, you need to write your own specification and requirements for the proposed system.
6.Proposed Technology or Languages

A: SQL Server.
B: C#

11. Hardware and Software Requirements

Software

The purpose of software part of the embedded attendance systems to store

necessary including individual finger print data of users, workers and other
member of an organization. Besides this, it scanner output, the actual
member of the organization and provide an interface to leave a comment
especially if the worker does not come in time. The admin can check all the
information about the entrance time and
the leaving time and personal message of the workers Admin may be one
or many. In a large organization
The software is web based and developed by

A: SQL Server.
B: C#

Hardware

This project is based on hardware Required used should be easy to maintain,

implement and easily available. Proposed hardware consists following parts:

A : Fingerprint Scanner,
B: LCD/Display Module (optional),
C: Computer.
12. Project Timeline/Plane
Doing your research you will have many activities in a process. This part is about making
a time based planning of your activities, in the time you have. Consider about 6 months
for you research. Use MS Excel for building this timeline, as you have studied in research
study class. An example is presented in figure1.
