Remapping/downloads - HTML: Additional Instructions For EGR or DPF Delete: EGR Delete
1. First, you need to ensure the file you have received is 512KB in size once it has been saved to
your laptop (some email browsers may display the size incorrectly, so check once it’s on your
laptop).
2. Next you need to scan the file using the check sum tool available through our website. This will
ensure that the file you have received is fully intact and has not been affected by your email
browser. The tool along with a video guide is available here: http://www.hdi-tuning.co.uk/ecu-
remapping/downloads.html
3. Instructions for commonly available tools are available on the same page (downloads), we
suggest you scan over this before attempting to program your car if you have not yet done so.
4. Ensure your laptop has a fully charged battery and at least 20-30 minutes of useable life.
5. Make sure there is no risk of the car’s 12v power dropping whilst you are programming your ECU:
- Disconnect any sub-woofers by removing the in-line fuse.
- Remove your radio head unit facia plate if possible so that it cannot power on.
- Switch off the internal fan, make sure the engine fans are not running, if they are, either allow
the engine to cool or disconnect the relay which powers the fans (Note: On some models, the engine
fans will power up once you connect to the ECU. If this occurs when reading the ECU, disconnect the relay before
programming the ECU to avoid a power drop).
- Be sure that there is a good connection between the OBD lead and your car, we usually
check the wires at the back of the OBD connector and push them in to the plug to ensure
they do not push out as you connect the head of the OBD programmer.
- Close any software running on your laptop, don’t use a laptop which is prone to crashing.
6. Finally, take care when flashing the ECU, if it doesn’t program completely the ECU will need to be
repaired and the car will not be useable, it’s best not to program your ECU if you need the car
urgently.
7. Please leave us a review on our Facebook page once you’ve tested your newly remapped

EGR Delete
You will need to ensure you unplug the blue plug from the EGR solenoid and block off the vacuum hoses
before uploading the file. If you don’t do this the EGR will be fully open.
DPF Delete
It is important you remove your DPF physically before uploading the remapped file. Along with removing
the DPF you will need to unplug the temperature sensor nearest to the DPF (and any other temperature
sensor in the exhaust). It is ok to leave the differential pressure sensor connected. DPF Delete will
remove all related fault codes and prevent the ECU from regenerating; this is why it’s important to ensure
the DPF canister is emptied.
Troubleshooting:
The most common cause of problems would be the Mass Air Flow meter (MAF), this controls the amount
of fuel allowed into your engine based on the mass of air available. If faulty this can give a low reading
and hence limit power. These should be replaced with only genuine Siemens VDO units.
For 2.0 110 and 2.2 136 BHP models: These use electronic boost control, if the turbo electro valve has a
fault the turbo will not spool up, you will have a large lack of power. The turbo electro valves commonly
cause problems on these engines, if you think you have a problem with this it's worth replacing it.
To keep it short we've listed only a couple of common faults in this document, for more information please
read the FAQ section on our website, or just drop us an email. http://www.hdi-tuning.co.uk/ecu-
