QUALIFICATION:
Candidates for the positions listed must satisfy the following criteria:
1. PROFESSOR:
i) Candidates must be holders of Ph.D in relevant fields with not less than 10
years teaching, research and professional/industrial experience after the
doctorate degree in a University system.
iii) He/she must show evidence of exceptional research record and a reasonable
number of scholarly publications in reputable journals, both local and
international.
iv) He/she must show evidence of proven teaching ability, evidence of capability
to initiate and carry out independent research works as well as supervise
student research and projects.
v) The person must possess sound administrative skills and show evidence of
participation in administration within the University system and contribution
to the development of the outside community.
vi) At least ten (10) years research and administrative experience with Ph.D or
its equivalent such as MD degree of Nigerian or British universities. In the
Clinical Sciences, candidates must have a Fellowship of the West African

registered member of COREN.
2. READER:
i) As in (a) above with a minimum of 7 years cognate teaching, research and
academic administrative experience in a University system. Candidates for
this position in the Faculty of Engineering must be registered members of
COREN.
ii) At least seven (7) years research and administrative experience with Ph.D or
its equivalent such as MD degree of Nigerian or British universities. In the
Clinical Sciences, candidates must have a Fellowship of the West African
College of Surgeons/Physicians (FWACS/FWACP) or National Postgraduate
Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or their equivalents.
3. SENIOR LECTURER:
i) Candidate must be holder of Ph. D in the relevant field with not less than 5
years cognate teaching and research experience in the University system.
He/she must have outstanding teaching ability and effectiveness as a
University lecturer. The candidate must have a reasonable number of
scholarly publications in reputable journals. He/ She must be able to initiate
and carry out independent research work and also supervise students’
research project up to the doctoral level. The candidate for this position in the
Faculty of Engineering must be a registered member of COREN
ii) In the Basic Medical Sciences, candidate must have a Ph.D or its equivalent
such as MD degree of Nigerian or British universities. In the Clinical
Sciences, candidates must have a Fellowship of the West African College of
Surgeons/Physicians (FWACS/FWACP) or National Postgraduate Medical
College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or their equivalents.
4. LECTURER I:
i) Candidate must be holder of Ph. D in the relevant field with not less than 3
years relevant teaching and research and/or industrial experience in
universities/institutions of higher learning. In addition, candidates must have
at least three (3) publications in reputable refereed journals.
5. LECTURER II:
i) Candidate must be holder of Ph. D in the relevant fields; and must show
teaching and research abilities; or Master’s degree or its equivalent plus at
least 3 years relevant teaching, research and/or industrial experience.
6. ASSISTANT LECTURER:
A good Master’s degree or its equivalent qualification with at least a CGPA
of 3.5 or its equivalent on a 5-Point grade scale, or its professional equivalent
plus at least 3 years relevant teaching, research and/or industrial experience.
7. GRADUATE ASSISTANT:
Candidate must have at least a Second Class (Honours) degree with Upper
Division.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER:
Candidates should have Diploma (ND/OND) in the relevant field plus at least a
minimum of two (2) years relevant post-qualification work experience with
evidence of Microsoft certification or its equivalent and computer proficiency or
three (3) subjects at a sitting at the GCE A/L, plus at least a minimum of four (4)
years relevant work experience with evidence of Microsoft certification and
computer proficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
MEDICAL DOCTOR:
Candidate must possess a degree in Medicine (MBBS or its equivalent) from a
recognised institution and registered with the Medical and Dental Council of
Nigeria (MDCN), with evidence of Microsoft Certification.
PHARMACY TECHNICIAN:
Candidate must possess a West African School Certificate (WASC) and should
have successfully completed a three or four years training programme in a
recognised health institution and obtained the registration of the relevant National
Practice Board of Nigeria for Technician Cadres.
PHARMACIST:
Candidate must possess a B.Pharm or B.Sc (Pharm) Honours degree, registrable
with the Pharmacist Board of Nigeria and completion of the National Youth Service
Corps with evidence of Microsoft Certification.
NURSE:
Candidate must possess N.R.N. or N.C. N. or N.R. N/N.C.M. or B.Sc with evidence
of Microsoft Certification.

QUALIFICATIONS
CHIEF TECHNOLOGIST:
Candidate must possess HND/B.Sc (professional degree), full Technological
Certificate registrable with any professional bodies (e.g. NISLT, IMLT, COREN),
plus at least a minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant work experience with
evidence of Microsoft Certification and computer proficiency.
SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST:
Candidate must possess HND/B.Sc (professional degree), full Technological
Certificate registrable with any professional bodies (e.g. NISLT, IMLT, COREN),
plus at least a minimum of six (6) years relevant work experience with evidence of
Microsoft Certification and computer proficiency.
TECHNOLOGIST I:
Candidate must possess HND/B.Sc (professional degree), full Technological
Certificate registrable with any professional bodies (e.g. NISLT, IMLT, COREN),

QUALIFICATIONS
PATROLMAN:
Candidate must possess WASC/GCE (O/L) or its equivalent with credit passes in
three (3) subjects, including English Language, Ex-Serviceman with clear records
of service as an advantage.
SENIOR PATROLMAN:
Candidate must be Ex-Serviceman with clear records of service having
WASC/GCE (O/L) with five (5) credit passes in three (3) subjects, including
English Language, plus Microsoft Certification, computer proficiency and five (5)
years working experience as a policeman.
CHIEF PATROLMAN:
i) Candidate must be Ex-Police Corporal with clear records of service or its
equivalent rank in the Armed Forces with five (5) credits in WASC/GCE
(O/L) including English Language plus ten (10) years working experience as
a Policeman and evidence of Microsoft Certification and computer
proficiency.
ii) Must possess WASC or its equivalent with five (5) credits including English
Language, plus Diploma in Safety and Security Management and evidence of
Microsoft Certification and computer proficiency.
PATROL SUPERVISOR:
Candidate must be a Police Sergeant with clear records of service or equivalent rank
in the Armed Forces with five (5) credits in WASC (O/L) or its equivalent with at

the Armed Forces with at least ten (10) year post-WASC with five (5) credits
including English Language, plus Diploma in Safety and Security

SECURITY OFFICER:
i) Candidate must be an Inspector of Police or equivalent rank in the Armed
Forces with at least a minimum of twelve (12) years experience with a
University Honuors degree, plus Diploma in Safety and Security
Management with evidence of Microsoft Certification and computer
proficiency.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Successful candidates will be required to assume duty as soon as possible and will
be on probation for the first three (3) years. Thereafter, they will retire at the
approved age of 65 years, or 70 years for those on the professorial cadre.
Candidates could be allowed to transfer their service to the Rivers State University.
Other conditions are similar to those obtaining in other Institutions of higher
learning in Nigeria.
