Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The rules that the whole societies today
expect young people to follow and obey are too strict.

As society develops, young people in modern-day take more social responsibilities than those
who lived in the past. Some people believe that the rules that the whole communities today expect
young people to obey are too strict, while others insist that the rules are moderate. From my
perspective, the lateral opinion is more realistic and convincing.

First of all, modern societies are just expecting young people to obey the basic moral senses
as rules. To be specific, morality is the principle of everybody in society. Equality, justice, and
love are the three words that most of the elders used to teach the young people. All the rules in the
societies are hoping the young men to become good and kind. As the ancient saying goes, the
original statement of humans is kindness. Thus, it is hard to believe that people consider the rules
of leading young people to become good are strict rules which are hard to follow.

What is more, the only task of the young people to the communities is to do some little
contribution. It is young people’s responsibility to repay the societies with their own effort. Some
people consider it is too hard to follow this social rule because they maintain that young people
would have to contribute too much. However, there are lots of ways to repay our communities. For
example, young people can do volunteers work and join public benefit activities to help the poor.
They can also use their knowledge to design small creative scientific inventions to contribute their
own wisdom to help societies progress.

Last but not the least, compared with the past, young people have gained more freedom in
social rules to follow than those who live in the past. In the past, the life of young people was
determined by their parents. For example, the marriages of young people in the past were the best
reflections. Young men had no right to choose someone they love to marry. In the story of Romeo
and Juliet, Juliet was sent by his father to marry a old gentleman in the countryside rather than
followed her own heart to marry with Romeo. We can see what the hard life and strict rule in the
past the young people were suffering. By contrast, young people in modern society have their own
freedom in choosing someone to marry and options in having the life they want to live. Thus, it is
doubtful to say that the rules in modern-day are too strict for young people to follow.

Judging from the statement mentioned above, that is why I believe the rule in modern society
is not strict for young people to obey.
