HOw To COpE WItH STrEsS For SPM EXaMiNaTiOn
Good morning to our honourable principal, the assistant principal, teachers and fellow friends. I am here today as a
President of English Languange Society to discuss about ways to cope with SPM examination stress.
Students are commonly got stressed because the pressure on learning 11 subjects at a time. In order to cope with the
stress occured by SPM examination, there are various ways such as getting enough sleep, set realistic goals and
entertain yourself wisely.
First and foremost, getting supports from parents, friends and teachers are very important. In order to success in the
SPM examination, we need to take care about our mental health in order to speed the process on revising subjects.
Some people took less care about their mental health and ended up getting very nervous and forget what they have
revised earlier. Oh yeah, before I forgot, you have to keep hydrated so don't forget to bring water bottle with you!
Stepping away from social media during the exam period is very important. Checking the latest update on Instagram,
Facebook and the like while revising is the worst type of procrastination possible, as we all know how quickly the time
disappears when you're swiping through your social media. In addition of this, many of our friends will be on the same
boat, so are likely to be talking a lot about how much they're studying or not. This is likely to stress you out even more,
or at least influence how much time you're spending revising.
Apart from that, try not to give so much hard time to yourself. I know it is easy to just say it but we should train ourself
to do it until we success. You're doing your best and that's the best you can do! Keep your eye on the bigger picture and
remember that one 'meh' result isn't the end of the world. Putting yourself under a lot of pressure can have a negative
effect, and as much cliche as this is, worrying doesn't solve anything. Being kind to yourself during periods of high
anxiety is likely to give you a bit more motivation to work harder, so take a little time out from revision to pumper
yourself and catch up with your nearest and dearest.
In a nutshell, students do get stressed up. However, it is just a matter of how we manage stress and tension. If we can
manage it properly, we can prevent the consequences of having too much stress than we can handle. As the saying goes
'The prevention is better than cure'. I think it's the end of my speech today because the time is not on my side. Thank
you for lending me your ears. I hope my speech today will guide you through this hard time. Thank you.
