foot. As well as to fight against the trolls, goblins and anything else that is trying to stop the company
For Bilbo who lived in the Shire, he was never bothered by anyone who doesn’t live there and who isn’t a
hobbit as well. That is until Bilbo meets a man that was outside of his home smoking close to the front
door and this visitor was a wizard by the name Gandalf. Gandalf had come to the shire in search of a
person who is willing to go on an adventure with him and the company that he created. All that the

unsuspecting Bilbo saw that morning was an old man with a staff. He had a tall pointed blue hat, a long
gray cloak, a silver scarf over which his long white beard hung below his waist, and immense black boots.
It was Bilbo who saw this man as he was opening the front door of his home and saw this strange man
that he didn't recognize at all. Bilbo doesn’t want to be bothered by Gandalf that was outside of his home
smoking and looking off in the distance. That is until Gandalf asked Bilbo if he would like to go on an
adventure with him. “ Very pretty! Said Gandalf,” but I have no time to blow smoke-rings this morning. I
am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it’s very difficult to find
anyone.” ( Tolkien 7) This is what Gandalf was telling Bilbo and he was hoping that it would spark some
interest within the young hobbit. Gandalf was hoping that Bilbo would agree with what he was saying
Bilbo didn’t care about any type of journey because he didn't want to be a part of but that didn't stop
Gandalf from leaving a mark on Bilbo’s front door. Unknown to Bilbo that Gandalf had left a small but
not so noticeable mark on the door that let the dwarves that were coming to know where to stop. As Bilbo
is inside of his own home getting tea ready for Gnadalf, it was actually unknown to Biblo that he was
expecting some company arriving soon at his front door and that Gandalf had left as well. That is when
one by one the dwarves begin to arrive at the home of Bilbo. Once the majority of the dwarves had
arrived and Gandalf came back to the home of Bilbo. Now they are waiting for the leader who goes by
Thorin to arrive at Bilbo’s home to talk about the journey that they are going to have to go through.
For this company must travel to different parts of Middle earth as well as meet different people that help
them to continue their journey, to be able to reach the mountain by themselves. The most important thing
is a monster by the name of Azog who is trying to kill Thorin and stop the company from reaching the
mountain. This monster will stop at nothing to kill Thorin and make sure he as well as his bloodline dies
with him. There is another monster that is helping Azog to stop Thorin and his company from reaching
the mountain, his name is Bolg and he is actually the son of Azog. It continues toward a big battle that the

elves, the humans , and the rest of the dwarves must fight in order to stop Azog’s army from taking over
Middle earth. But at the end Thorin and his nephews lose their lives within the battle against the army of
Azog.
