Immunization, the process by which an individual’s Immunity becomes stronger,
has the purpose to protect the body against diseases. Immunity is the ability of a human
being to react defensively against a foreign substance, a microorganism or some
nonliving particle or molecule. For immunization, doctors use either vaccine or serum.
Vaccines provide immunity by making the body produce antibody, the substance
that fights the disease. Using vaccine is what call active immunization is. Vaccines
contain germs that are dead or living, but weakened. By exposing germ to an
immunogen in a controlled way., our body can learn to protect itself. The vaccines with
dead germs are used for influenza, Cholera, and Typhoid, and the vaccines containing
living germs are used against Poliomyelitis.
However, doctors sometime use passive immunization by injecting serums into
the patient’s body. In passive immunization, the elements of the immune system are
transferred into the person’s body so that is does not need to produce antibodies.
Doctor use this method if they are not sure that the patient may not have time to make
antibodies of his own. This technique is used in Tetanus case. This dirt which enter the
body through wound can develop into Tetanus. The process is sometime so fast that the
body doesn’t have time to build antibodies to resist the disease. Another use of passive
immunization is when the patient is bitten by the Snake. Passive immunization begins to
