Reflection:
On my clinical day in University of Lahore teaching hospital on dated 25/03/ 21 in gynae unit .I
saw Mrs. Salma 26 years old Married for four years presented to us with the complain of strong
labor pain .Her L.M.P. was 26/07/20 and E.D.D was 23/03/21. She takes her follow up in
University of Lahore hospital regularly .On duty doctor checked her and examined clinically.
Her all clinically findings were normal fetus scan was normal.

All measurement head circumference, fetal weight was normal. Her abdomen was normal .she
planned SVD and prepared LSCS in case of emergency Patient progressed on regular intervals.
She ultrasound the patient .She monitored fetal heart rate half hourly. Vitals monitored one
hourly .NPO the patient routine labs send. Uterine contraction monitored. Pelvis examination
done. Give her clean enema when cervix dilated 10 cm cervical canal 01cm fetus passed grade
04 meconium. Meconium stained liquor showed on examination. The doctor did not call to the
pediatrician.

When baby delivered he was cyanosed and in respiratory distress. The staff who received the
baby call to pediatrician. And suction done to clean the airway. When doctor came baby was in
cardiac arrest He passed the ET.T. Oxygen inhalation given and CPR done but baby condition
could not improve and expired within 05 minutes, think it was very big loss for the mother and
his family The mother who suffered 09 month . She passed this duration in critically condition.
Many difficulties will be bear by the mother. I feel, How she spend her 1st trimester .Some time
she suffering in nausea and vomiting. I feel how she will be spend her 2nd trimester, how she
spend her 3rd trimester .She passed this time in very difficult condition. She passed in the mouth
of death.

I feel what her hopes about her baby were. How she spend this time. How many dreams seen
by her. How many hopes keeps her family about the baby. But her output was zero. This is not
fair for the patient and her family. I think about the conditions of her labor pains. She was
suffering in very difficult condition. The pains were too much strong ln labor stage patient was
crying .It is says by shakespres the Man’s life has no any price. I think if the obstetrician writes
the call to pediatrician the baby could survive. 2nd thing if the doctor forgot. The staff nurse
should remind him for the betterment of patient. My feelings were too much bad. This was very
bad experience

Along with the necessary skills, the practitioner should approach any resuscitation with a good
comprehension of transitional physiology and adaptation, as well as an understanding of the
infant's response to resuscitation. Resuscitation involves much more than possessing an ordered
list of technical skills and having a resuscitation team; it requires excellent assessment skills and
a grounded understanding of physiology.

I have learned from this critical situation that I will perform my duty carefully and assist my
patient very intentionally and take every step for the welfare of my patient being a nurse I should
apply every possible measures for the betterment of patients and use every skill to save the life of
human being such as how maintain airway how I manage burn patient how I manage the acid
intake patient I will get knowledge more and more and improve my skills.
