Description

Background:

Microsoft recommended the invalidation of SMB Ver1.0 in order to cope


with the Ransomware (WannaCry) issues.

Whilst the newer 'IT5" A3 Office Products (7&8 Series) support SMBv2 as
standard (and even SMBv3 is available) the older 4e Series and 4 Series
products only supported SMBv1. However, support for SMBv2 on these
older products is now available as follows:

4 Series Devices

C224, C284, C364, C454, C554, C654, C754, Mono 654, Mono 754.

SMBv2 is only available by installing the latest Special “Version Up”


Firmware, (Version GBF-M0 or later) We strongly recommend to only use
this firmware in special circumstances when the customer is specifically
requesting special features (Like SMBv2, Google Cloud Print, Scan to
Gmail etc)

The Version Up firmware is available in DLGB1514243EN - Please ensure


you read and fully understand the Installation instructions and precautions
before installing this firmware, once installed do not attempt to install any
normal mass production firmware, without following the special downgrade
procedures.
How to enable SMBv2

Once the firmware is installed, SMBv1 and SMBv2 can be selected as


follows:

Tech Rep, System 2, Software SW Setting:

DipSW No.219 - SMB versions for the SMB client functions:

Software SW No.219 Hex 00: SMB1.0/2.0 are available. (default)

Software SW No.219 Hex 04: Only SMB2.0 is available.

Important Note:

When SMB V2.0 is enabled, there are the following restrictions:

a) "Machine Auto Update" using SMB is not supported.

b) For Mac OS 10.x, ScanToSMB and Browsing are not supported with
SMB2.0.
