Getting Started
Starting
The player starts out with several items: the Starter Bag, Iron Heart and
Revengeance. The bag contains weapons for each class in the game, as well as Death
and the Defiled Rune. Several of these items toggle unique difficulty modes:
Revengeance Mode and Death Mode are difficulty settings intended to be much more
challenging than Expert Mode, introducing mechanics such as the Rage Meter and
Adrenaline Meter, and new boss mechanics.
The Defiled Rune disables the player's flight time and allows enemies to critically
hit the player, in exchange raising the drop rates of certain items to 5%.
The Iron Heart toggles a mode which permanently kills the player only during boss
fights, similarly to Hardcore mode.
Additionally, the Armageddon item may be crafted at an Altar, which allows bosses
to instantly kill players in one hit but yields multiple Treasure Bags based on the
difficulty mode they are fought in.
Certain mechanics featured by the mod can be changed in the configuration options
file.
Pre-boss exploration
Aside from mining for Ores, Wulfrum Shards are the first material the player should
look for to create armor and weapons.
All Biomes and the majority of Events have unique content added to each of them, so
be sure to check through them for items you may find useful.
Planetoids spawn in Space, providing items which were otherwise available only in
the Caverns.
The main Planetoid contains a central structure with Cinderplate, Lava and a chest
full of Planters.
Shrines appear in different biomes, each with a unique weapon, accessory or mount
for the player to use.
Ice Tombs spawn in the Ice biome, providing easier access to certain vanilla items.
An Evil Island spawns opposite to the dungeon, containing the World Evil not chosen
by the player and its respective ore, as well as the Biome Chest.
NPCs also sell new items, including summoning items to make re-fighting bosses
easier.
Enemies during Blood Moons drop Blood Orbs, which make crafting potions easier but
require the Alchemy Table from the Dungeon.
Mechanics
Killing enemies or damaging bosses yields proficiency, a new leveling system added
by the mod. While the system isn't necessary to be able to progress, it grants
several minor boosts to the player's stats.
The mod also adds a new Rogue class, which revolves around a stealth mechanic to
deal extra damage.
