VISCORBENT® 908

Rheological Additive for low to medium polarity solvent-based coatings

Other Names: Organophilic Bentonite, Amine treated Bentonite, Bengel

GENERAL INFORMATION
VISCORBENT® 908 rheological additive is an amine treated organoclay designed to act as a rheological
additive in OBMs and SBMs. It also works well in other drilling muds. It is a highly cost-effective
rheological additive for improving suspension properties and carrying capacity to aid cuttings removal
during drilling.

APPLICATIONS

VISCORBENT® 908 is designed for low to medium polarity OBMs, recommended

dosage is to be decided during lab-testing for desired results. Typical dosage 0.2%
- 2.0% by weight of total system.

KEY PROPERTIES

 Effectively increases low shear and mid shear viscosity of OBMs

 Improve hole cleaning capacities of OBMs/SBMs
 Increases OBM/SBM stability to temperature
 Promote borehole stability
 Offers an excellent balance between sag resistance and flow & levelling properties
 Prevents particle settling during storage
 Controls flooding and floating
 Reduce fluid loss by stabilizing the OBM and prevents excessive penetration of the liquid
components into semi-permeable formations
 Consistent batch to batch development of rheological properties

PACKAGING

VISCORBENT® 908 rheological additive is available in 25kg (55-lb) multi-ply paper bags or pre-
activated in liquid form (VISCORBENT® 908-L), supplied in 5-gal (20L) pails.
