STEMazing Contest Guidelines

COMPONENT AREA: SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND MATHEMATICS


GRADE LEVEL: Junior to Senior High School enrolled in Public and Private schools
EVENT PACKAGE: STEMazing (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics azonic innovations and
gains)
NO. OF PARTICIPANTS Individual or pair
Each division may submit one video for any one of the scenarios.
TIME ALLOTMENT Two (2) minutes
DESCRIPTION The showcase enables learners to apply science and mathematics thinking skills to
solve problems that have local, national, and global impact. It allows the participants
to become problem solvers by addressing social, scientific, and environmental issues
through the application of 21st century skills.
In the showcasing, the participants will be creating a 2-minute video presentation
proposing a solution to a given scenario.
MECHANICS For the video to be considered for showcasing in the Division Science Quest it must:
 be original footage or student created animation or combination of both.
 be maximum of 2 minutes in length (Including the credits)
 accurately use scientific, technological, and engineering concept in presenting
their solution.
 not include any copyrighted material in presentation (i.e., music and images).
 documented correctly/properly acknowledged all sources and relevant
copyright law has been followed.
 be filmed at home and follow existing IATF guidelines in effect in the
respective locality. Participants who will be working in pairs must collaborate
remotely.
 be engaging, creative and have strong narrative.
 target the public as the audience.

Showcase Guidelines
1. The video presentations will focus on the following scenarios/themes:
 Natural Disasters (earthquakes, tsunami, volcanic eruption, typhoon, etc.) and Climate change/Global
Warming
 Agriculture and Food security
 Environment and Natural Resources
 Healthcare/Pandemics
2. Participants may submit one video per scenario/theme.
3. The participants may use the internet and other printed resources in developing their video presentation provided
relevant provisions of the copyright law are followed.
4. The video presentations may consist of the following:
 Plan of action that may be done on local or global scale to address the challenges set in the scenario.
 Detail key features of the proposed solution.
 Challenges to resolve to effectively implement the proposed solution.
d. Proposed solution maybe similar or different from existing practices, technologies, and solutions. If so, the video
presentation shall include on how the proposed solution would build up from the existing practices, technology, and
solutions.
5. All video presentations that are quality assured by their respective schools will be submitted through the google
drive. The video presentations will then be uploaded in (internet) for public viewing.
6. Participants are required to submit parental consent to the Division Office.
7. The presentation of each event during the showcasing of talents and skills will be followed by a feedback/input to gain
insights for further improvement.
9. Learners and teacher-coaches who participated in this showcase of talents and skills will receive a certificate of
participation and recognition.
10. Participants shall submit their Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) in this STEMazing Contest. The material should be in
high definition 1280 x 720 30 fps video format or a video of good broadcasting quality in MP4 format. Follow the sample
file name: Event_School_2021DSQ (e.g. STEMazing_CabuloanNHS_2021DSQ).
