1. Three loads, A, B, and C are connected in parallel and take currents that are
respectively 12 A, 10 A, and 15 A. Assuming IA to be the reference phasor, IB leads IA by
30º and IC lags behind IA by 65º, find the resultant current.

2. A capacitor is rated 100 kVAR, 380 V, 50 Hz. Find its rating at 60 Hz, 220 V.

3. A capacitance is connected to a 115 V, 25 Hz mains and takes a current of 5 A. Find the

current when both the capacitance and frequency are doubled.

4. The resistance of a coil is measured to be 20 Ω. A 230 V, 60 Hz is impressed on the coil

and the current taken is 3.2 A. Find the inductance of the coil.

5. A 220 V, 60 Hz circuit draws a current of 11 A with a power factor of 0.8 lagging. Find
the resistance of the circuit.

1. A chart speed of recording instrument is 25 mm/s. One cycle of the signal being
recorded extends over 5 mm. Find the frequency of the signal.

2. An alternating current is given by i = 141.2 sin 314t. Find the instantaneous current when
t = 1 ms.

3. An alternating current is given by i = 10 sin 314t. Find the time needed to reach +10 A
for the second time.

4. Three loads are in parallel take the following currents: i1 = 10 sin 314t; i2 = 20 sin (314t -
45º); i3 = 30 cos (314t + 30º) A. respectively. Find the rms value of the resultant current.

5. A 40 μF capacitor is supplied with 100 V, 60 Hz source. Find the resulting current.
