Questão 1: GRAMMAR (40 scores)
Choose one of the grammar topics of your course LING2A (for example: present simple –
affirmative, negative interrogative forms and use, present continuous – affirmative, negative
and interrogative forms and use; the use and meanings of the adverbs of frequency,
comparative and superlative adjectives form and function, the genitive case, the modal verb
can etc.) and record an audio material of yourself explaining the grammar in English as if you
would explain to your students. Your audio material must have at least 2 minutes. Send your
audio material with the title - Questão 1 grammar - to your tutor, along with the written
script.
Questão 2: DESCRIBING PEOPLE (30 scores)
Choose one celebrity you admire, find a photo of this one which shows as much as clothes,
activities being done etc. and record an audio material of yourself speaking in English,
describing this person’s appearance, clothes, activities being done. Say also why you chose this
specific person and why he or she is important for you. Your audio material must have at least
2 minutes. Send your audio material to your teacher with the title – Questão 2 describing
people - along with the photo and the written script.
Questão 3: TELL ABOUT YOURSELF (30 scores)
Record an audio material of yourself speaking in English telling about your daily routine,
including things you do (use adverbs of frequency) for your job, for your university, for you
family/home and for your leisure time. Your audio material must have at least 2 minutes. Send
your audio to your teacher with the title – Questão 3 – tell about yourself along with the
written script.

Questão 1: GRAMMAR (40 scores)
Script: In today's class, I will talk about the verb can.
It is a modal verb. In the English language, modal verbs have the function of helping the main
verb in a sentence. In the case of can, it expresses ability to do something, possibility,
permission to do something, or an informal request.
Some features when using the modal verb can:
1) It is not necessary to use the verb can with the particle “to” and the main verb will be used
in the infinitive and without the particle “to”. The correct thing is to say “I can do” and not “I
can to do”.
2) When using can in interrogative sentences, it will change position, appearing before the
subject.
For example:
Can you give me a ring?
3) When using can in negative sentences, it is necessary to add the "not" (contracted form:
can’t)
For example:
His father cannot (can’t) run at the park anymore.
In short: the modal verb can is used when one wants to express “power” in the sense of having
ability/capacity, giving permission or making a request in an informal way.
Questão 2: DESCRIBING PEOPLE (30 scores)
Script: Leonardo DiCaprio is an actor, producer, and philanthropist. He

was born on November 11, 1974, in Los Angeles. He has blue eyes,
medium height, blond hair, and a little beard. When he appears in
public, Leonardo is always well-groomed, wearing a tuxedo or a t-shirt,
blazer, pants, and shoes.
Furthermore, he seems to be a very kind person, sensitive to

environmental causes. Also, having a good relationship with his fans.
Questão 3: TELL ABOUT YOURSELF (30 scores)
Script: I wake up every day at 6 am. I take a shower, get dressed, and around 7:30, I have my
breakfast. Around 9 am, I start housework and at noon, I have lunch. I take a rest about 2
hours before I start studying EAD activities around 4 pm. At 7 pm, I have dinner and watch
some anime. Around eleven at night, I go to bed, and at midnight, I sleep.
