 A family of four with two school-age children lives in an urban barangay with high cases of dengue fever. It was learned that their community was not part
of the DOH’s dengue vaccination program since it was suspended before reaching their area. The family has also not attended any public health education
programs on dengue. Their living condition can possibly result in the emergence of mosquitos as stagnant water is found everywhere and the general area is
unsanitary. Upon interviewing the mother, it was found out that they do not have mosquito repellents and did not use mosquito nets when sleeping. The mother
also had poor knowledge on the disease as she stated that their neighbor had acquired dengue fever but she did not know anything about the illness. It is worth
noting that the time of the visit was also during the rainy season which may have contributed to the water puddles observed.
