ABSTRACT
A USB (Universal Serial Bus) pen drive/flash drive is a storage device that comprises of flash memory
with an assimilated Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface. A Cloud Storage is also alike case where in the
data is put in storage remotely and is retrieved whenever desired.
But a hitch of this USB flash drives is its small size because of which it can easily be misplaced or gone
astray. This is a specific problem if the data it contains is delicate or private. In Cloud Storages the data
can be whipped or misused if the username and password of an account to access the storage is lacerated
by someone. There are many more shortcomings like limited storage, no security, back up, temp files, no
remote deactivate etc.
ITwin is a 'boundless' protected USB device that permits users to access, edit & share all their files &
media among any two online computers universally in the world. The only boundary is the size of your
computer’s hard drive. ITwin is an inventive resolution that consents distant file access without the
security and secrecy risks of the cloud and USB flash drives. It’s very easy to access as a USB device and
no superior setting up is required. ITwin uses carefully examined crypto rules and algorithms (AES 256 bit
encryption). It has features resembling bi-directional file access, no temp files, remote disable, smart key
generation, and secret code support and twin trust validation.

1. INTRODUCTION
ITwin is an innovatory new file distribution and far-flung access device brought to you by a corporation
called iTwin. It is similar to two ends of a cable, without having any cables attached. It is as simple as to
use a flash drive. It’s exactly plug and play device. ITwin can attach any two online computers universally
all over the world. ITwin empowers you to have access to any or all of your home-based computer's files
and folders while you're on-the-go. Likewise, you can also use iTwin to access to some or all of your
workplace computer's files and folders while on-the-go. There's no in-built limit to the volume of storage
you can access with iTwin while you're on-the-go. The only limit is the size of our own hard drives spaces.
The only other "limit" is the rapidity of your Internet connection. The faster it is, the enhanced experience
will be there.
You can hand-pick your files for editing later on-the-go, or you can edit them distantly, without the files
parting your computer. You can also reserve files to your home-based or workplace computer while you're
out on-the-go. It's so easy, it's incredible.

2. HISTORY
ITwin was developed by an Indian called Lux Anantharaman. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in
Electrical and Electronic Engineering from IIT in Chennai and a Master’s degree from IISc in Bangalore,
Lux operated first as an IT security researcher at the Institute of Systems Science, Singapore and then as
senior researcher at Kent Ridge Digital Labs and the Institute for Infocomm Research. Lux is major in PKI
implementations, proficient digital certificate revocations and functioning security. Lux was pursuing a
part-time MBA at NUS Business School, Singapore, but he left the course in between because of potential
of iTwin.
As the first and only remote file access solution that is truly plug-and-play, iTwin was among the top 100
new tech products to be selected from thousands of products and technologies globally reviewed by the
editors of the magazine. The award was featured in the December issue of Popular Science, the most
widely read issue of the year since the debut of “Best of What's New” in 1987. Based in the United States,
Popular Science was first published in 1872 and is the world's most widely circulated science and
technology magazine with a circulation of 1.3 million and 6.8 million monthly readers.

3. WHY WE NEED?
Transferring data from one PC to another can be difficult, especially if it's a large amount of data. For
example, if you want to send some data to somebody in another country, you’re going to have to go
through the hassle of either sending it via e-mail, or upload it to some file hosting service. Chances are, if
your file is too large, you’ll probably need to buy more storage. Enter iTwin. This new USB dongle/USB
drive allows users to remotely access data from anywhere in the world. It’s a one-time investment.

4. HOW TO USE ITWIN?

When you will link iTwin to your system, you'll see a systematic window pop-up, as similar as you would
if you plug in a regular USB drive.
Drag and drop documents/files and directory/folders into this space to share them - as numerous as you
want. Leave the computer with one of the part of iTwin attached to it.
Remove the other part of iTwin and take it along with you. Wherever you go no matter how far, you can
distantly access the public/shared files, simply by attaching the part you are having into any connected
Windows computer, universally over the world. ITwin lets you to transfer documents/files to - or from
your home-based system, or your workspace computer, or your friend's/neighbour’s, or your colleague's!
ITwin as well permits you to manage the shared folders/files on a distant computer, while keeping them on
that distant computer, (no need to transfer those documents/files before you edit them).

5. UNIQUE FEATURES
5.1 Smart key generation
Two iTwins collectively generates a random 256-bit AES key, each time they are physically combined and
plug in into a computer. Smart Key generation is aided by the computer to add arbitrariness. Smart crypto

key will be present in only on the two splits of the combined iTwin. Smart Crypto key is used for encoding
all data traffic in the middle of two iTwins.

5.2 No “Temp Files”

Unplug iTwin and all temp files are eliminated automatically. This is exclusively useful when using a
computer that does not belong to you.

5.3 Password support

ITwin even offers password provision. Passwords of any extent can be set. Unlike other web services,
iTwin's password is stockpiled on itself, not on any server. If you fail to recall your password, simply pair
both splits of your iTwin, socket them into a computer and set a new password. No need for tech
assistance!

5.4 Bi-Directional File Access

When using iTwin, the association amongst the 2 computers is completely balanced. Access, copy, backup
& distantly edit files on computer One from computer Two, and on Two from One. You will have
admittance to files on both One and Two.
ITwin is like the two ends of a cable, without the cable. ITwin is just like a wireless device connecting two
systems and securely transferring data between them.

5.5 Data Security

i-Twin doesn't store any data on itself. It just supports a protected linking between two computers. Your
remote data can only be retrieved if you have the i-Twin device with you. In addition, you can set up the i-
Twin to involve a password. i-Twin comprises a feature that lets you to distantly disable the linking if you
lose your remote i-Twin half. So you can rest guaranteed that your data is safe, even if you misplace the i-
Twin device. If you have perpetually lost a portable storage device, you will know that awful feeling. We
just want to ensure that this never occurs to you all over again. It even makes use of AES (256 bit key
encryption) for the transfer of the data from one system to another system.

5.6 One-time cost, No fees ever

Don't pay for cloud storage. Don't pay subscription fees for accessing your files. Don't get sealed in. You
have the entire storing device you need on your computer and home-based hard disk. With i-Twin, share it
and access it from wherever you want.

6. AUTHENTICATION PROCESS

Before allowing any data transfer every single i-Twin is validated by i-Twins Twin Trust Services.

Total communications among the i-Twin are secured using industry strength HTTPs (RSA1024 bits, 128
bits RC4) protocol.

After effective validation by Twin Trust assist i-Twin to determine its other half.

After confirmation with Twin Trust, two splits of i-Twin mutually authenticates each other using pre-
shared AES 256 bit crypto key.

If key is set, then authentication is performed on both i-Twins beforehand the data transfer is started.

7. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

 Requires min. 512 MB, 1GB RAM recommended.

 Requires 15 MB hard-disk space.
 USB 2.0 port.
 Requires broad-band Internet access.
 Windows, Mac OS etc.

8. CONCLUSION
The iTwin - A bizarre solution for the home-based user who desires to access and modification on their
files distantly and safely. The iTwin sidesteps the simulated domain of cloud services which will turn your
physical storing device into its own networking resolution. The iTwin is meek to use and economically
solves the Dropbox drawbacks or restrictions. For those people who wants to keep their files up-to-date
among two computers the i-Twin is for ” you. “
