On Being a Millennial: Path towards Reservation and Globalization of filipino

culture

Nowadays, Millenials are recognized as the most influencial people in the society.
Time seems to dictate what kind of people they are. Every culture and traditions they
have mirrors their endeavor towards caring their culture that makes it venerable. In our
country alone which is the Philippines, millennials role on reserving culture is of
paramount to the success of the country, that's why filipino culture stays precious as it is
for the Filipino millennials take part of the reservation and on making the filipino culture
adaptive.

Filipino culture is seen as a unique and highly appreciated all over the world .As a
millennial, I value the Filipino culture we have. I strongly believe that our culture is the
best among other culture in the world. As a matter of fact, Filipino culture has only this
kind of greeting which implies respect. Saying "po and opo" to older ones who you
conversate with shows your humility and respect. We, Filipinos, are also known for our
hospitable act of receiving visitors in our house, we usually present expensive and
delicious foods on the table even though our budget seems not to afford those foods, only
for the visitors to feel comfortable.Filipinos are making sure that the equipment will be
used in preparing foods is at atmost quality. "Tumpok" or eating with bare hands is also
one of the marks of the Filipinos that made us well known, for Filipinos believe that
eating with bare hands makes their eating complete and delicious rather than using
kitchen utensils. Different authentic Filipino cuisine in the Philippines is also known for
its best and mouth watering food. Lechon, Adobo, chopsuey, ginataang laing, sisig,
dinuguan, calderatang kambing, lechon paksiw, pigar-pigar, binatog, balot, halo-halo,
banana cue, lumpiang togue, and chicharong pinaumbok are just some of the many pride
filipino delicasies in the Philippines which is also being adapted by different countries all
over the world. This is just a brief view on the Filipino culture in the Philippines.

Indeed, our Filipino culture makes our country proud because of its authenticity and
kind of a different but really an astonishing. However, reservation and globalization of
the Filipino culture is also essential. As a millennial, there are three tangible ways that I
can do to reserve and globalize the Filipino culture. First and foremost, my advocacy
would be centered on supporting the Filipino culture by simply applying and performing
culture in my daily routine rather than being dominated by the foreign culture. Second, I
would give importance to the filipino culture by supporting and fostering filipino culture
by means of the electronic gadgets as for the fact that many could see posts in the internet

about how wonderful our fililipino culture is, in that people not only in the Philippines
but also in different countries in the world would be captivated and enticed to the beauty
of the filipino culture. And lastly, I would encourage Filipinos to really love the Filipino
culture for I firmly believe that this is the only effective ingredient that would make
reservation and globalization of the Filipino culture feasible.

As John F. Kennedy once said, " Ask not what your country can do for you; ask
what you can do for your country". Millennials should take part in securing the Filipino
culture voluntarily for this is not only for the sake of one but for all the Filipinos. By this,
our ancestors and future generation will be proud of. And most especially this will prove
that Filipino millennials are the hope of the Philippines’ success.

CRITIQUE PAPER

There were four Latino teenagers arrived at the Marine Advanced Technology
Education Robotics Competition at The University of California, Santa Barbara. There
were born in Mexico but raised in Phoenix, Arizona, where they attended an underfunded
public high school. Growing up in Arizona, has never been easy for them, they had
difficult time fitting in with classmates while they struggle to learn English and adapt to
life in America. These teenagers once connive after working separately when they come
together as they discover a common curiosity and desire to belong in making their output
for the competition. The contest proper wasn’t in smooth flow instead it was really a
nerve-racking and breath taking moment. Wires in their underwater robot malfunctioned.
At that time, Little by little everything starts to fail. But that doesn’t stop them from
chasing their dreams. They focused on their goals instead of the failures. Their robot
wasn’t pretty, especially compared top those of the competition. They went up against
some of the best collegiate engineers in the country, including a team from MIT backed
by a $10,000 and built their robot out of scavenged parts. This was never a level
competition-and yet against all odds, they won.

The Movie was very inspiring. I like the part of the movie where in the last
minute before the contest started they had fixed malfunctions and make use of alternative
materials as to replace broken materials. The contest proper scene made me so proud and
inspired because whenever all the competitors coming from different colleges scored
higher than team, they never lose hope instead they focused on their goals and not on the
failures that happened. And most especially, the last part also made me amazed for the
team truthfully answered questions coming from the judges. However, the part of the
movie that I have been disappointed is that when the special award is given, the host did
not state the reason on why they gave the special award to the team. They should let the
team be recognized by people about their resourcefulness and creativity in doing their
underwater robot. And also I just want the movie to reveal what Lorenzo told when he is
asked by the board member about if their coach has donated some money. It would be
better if the honesty of Lorenzo to the board members would be revealed while giving
awards for I know that this is also one of the great factors on why they got the first place.

What I have realized from this movie is, as the cliché goes “No man is an island”,
working only by yourself alone without the help of others will only result to the
disappointment of the outcome. Working out things together with other people especially
with your love ones is much better than working independently for the ideas are from
different minds, and the strategies that will be applied to the things that you are going to
work with will become more efficient for these are agreed from different sides of the

members. And also doing things with other people will not make you feel tired for you
work happily and solve things altogether.
