Message from the Director
I welcome you to XLRI Jamshedpur for the placement season of 2011. I am proud to
present the batch of General Management Programme, a flagship programme of XLRI.
Pursuit of Excellence in academics, personal values and social concern has been the vision of
XLRI and the current batch of GMP truly shares this vision.
With a blend of young and spirited executives from varied backgrounds, the batch embarked
on a journey towards excellence. XLRI provided the environment conducive for personal
excellence and nurtured them through the journey with focused course content, lectures
and faculty interactions furthering their managerial skills.  As modern managers, they are
not only well versed in the theories of management but also highly adaptive to the changing
business environment and sensitive towards social responsibilities expected out of them.
Thus, XLRI has groomed them into managers of excellence, set to scale new heights, who
will make a difference in any organization. These are change managers, the ones who bring
change and manage it the best. Give them the opportunity they deserve. They will be an
asset to your organization.

Fr E. Abraham, S.J. Ph.D

Director, XLRI Jamshedpur

Message from the Dean

The General management programme has been designed to hone the managerial skills
of professionals by providing a strong grounding on management theories. The students
are practicing managers with more than 900 years of cumulative experience in diverse
functions and share the flair of excelling in every task they undertake.

The one–year fully residential programme, apart from rigorous class–room sessions and
case–based discussions, also has a three week International immersion programme. As a
part of the immersion program, the students visit our partner institutes and undertake
projects in reputed organizations with global features. This broadens their view on the way
businesses operate internationally, transforming them into world class leaders.
In line with the institute’s values, the students are also sensitized on the social issues that
face our country. The village exposure programme exposes the students to the ills plaguing
the rural heartlands of our country and implores them to identify the hidden opportunities
at the bottom of the pyramid. The batch of 2011 outshines its peers with their practical
insights and high adaptability to the ever changing business landscape. They are groomed to
be future business leaders raring to enter the corporate environment and make their mark.
I welcome you to come and interact with these highly motivated future leaders.

Prof. Pranabesh Ray

We are living in an era of constant flux in global business. Myths of success through rapid industrialization and unbridled globalization are
behind us. Decision making frameworks of yore are found grossly lacking in this fast changing business world. What worked for organizations
before, doesn’t, anymore.
What would work, however, is a professional who can think on his feet. A strategist who can marry short-term goals with long term

To cut a long story short, you wish to take your organization to the next level and you want leaders who not only deliver what is asked of
