THE STATE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT

Activity 9

The state opening of Parliament is accompanied by a series of events, many

of them quite unusual. After the Queen arrives at the Palace of Westminster,

she puts on long Robe of State and goes to the House of Lords. Then, the

representative of the House of Lords asks the Commons to come and listen
to the Queen’s speech, but the door to the Commons is ….slammed in his
