Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) hosted the 2021 IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS through Online Delivery Mode with the theme of Teaching and
Assessing the K-12 Standards Across the Different Learning Modalities. This webinar workshop lasted for
3 days, starting from June 21 2021 until June 23, 2021. I was assign in an advance track since this was not
my first time attending the webinar so the topics were sort of a refresher and at the same time additional
information that is very helpful in teaching this coming school year.
We started this webinar by registering in order to be acknowledged because at the end of the
webinar there will be a certificate that serves as proof of joining the webinar workshop. There are at least
eight sessions that need to be discussed and completed and every after the session there is outputs that
need to be submitted as a requirement of completing the session. The outputs were done by group which
was administered by the PEAC. Each group is composed of different schools joining the webinar. At the
end of the three –day webinar every group will present their outputs based on the materials they told us
to comply.
During the webinar workshop we focus on the alignment of all the components found inside our
curriculum map. All the necessary information being put in curriculum map must be align on the
competency, content standard and performance standard which are found in the DepEd 2016 Curriculum
guide. We have a diagram called Unit standard Diagram or simply an unpacking Diagram that can help us
picture out the exact alignment that we need for our Acquisition, Transfer Goal, Meaning making. They
provided us some techniques on how to have proper alignment which I believe is really useful for us as
teachers. In this technique, we followed steps to have guidance in doing the Unit standard diagram. The
following are the steps in aligning the content standard and competencies with your performance
standard: First is to copy the Content and Performance Standards and write Unit Topic, second is to
unpack the Transfer Goal and Performance Task from Performance Standard then write in the diagram,
since a diagram is given to us to have a bigger picture on alignment. Next is to review DepEd CG/School
Curriculum Map and take out competencies that are not directly aligned with Performance Standard.
These competencies may already have been taught or may be taught in another grade or unit. After
reviewing, classify the remaining unit competencies in terms of AMT Learning Goals, A and M with
Content and T with Performance Standard. Unpack when needed. Next step is unpacking the EQ and EU
and with M cluster of competencies, establish link with Content Standard and Performance Task then,
cluster the A competencies and establish link with Content Standard and Performance Task, lastly
Determine assessments for A (QA type) and M (WW type). Always take note on the components that you
input in the diagram since those details are also needed in completing your curriculum map. Another
topic that was being discussed is the curriculum map, the map is the powerful tool of teachers that help
us monitor what are the activities, competencies and assessments that is necessary to the students’
education. When it comes to assessment, assessing students work or performance task we also need
alignment so we can properly and thoroughly check their outputs. Assessing students work is a heavy
task and it needs to have an appropriate rubric that will lead to an appropriate result.
They also introduce us to some of the online platforms that are very useful in today’s situation.
Some of it is quite familiar to me since I also used it last school year. Those applications or websites
would help our students boost their interest and interact more often in every activity prepared for them.
With our situation right now, the struggle is real in believing students work as their own work so there
are also techniques that was discussed that can prevent students from cheating or making such things. If
you’ll search online there are lots websites or application that will definitely help you in giving
interesting activities to your students.
All throughout the webinar we were bombarded with tasks yet we were able to give them what
they expected from us. This webinar truly gave us ideas and more information as educators. One thing I
learn the most in this webinar is the word alignment. You must have an alignment starting from your
content standard, performance standard, competency down to your assessment strategies. Before you
proceed in doing all of these you must check and make sure that all these are align and that you are on
the right track.
