means that coutoms, habit,
character or disposition.

The term Business refer to
the organized efforts and
activities of individuals to
produce and sell goods and
service for profit.

History of Business ethics
• Business ethics reflect the norms of each historical period.
• Business was involved in slavery, colonialism and the cold war.
• The society for business ethic was founded in 1980. Business
schools adopted business ethics after 1987 commencing with
the European Business ethics network. In 1982 the first single
authored books in the field appeared.
• The concept of business ethics caught the attention of
acedemics, media and business firms by the end of the war.
• The Defence Industry initiative on business ethics and
conduct(DII) was created to support corporate ethical conduct.
This era began the relief and support of self regulation and
free trade, which lifted tariffs and barriers and allowed
businessess to merge and divest in an increasing global
atmosphere.

• The principle and standards that define acceptable
conduct in business.
• Business ethics can be defined as written and unwritten
codes of principles and values that govern decisions and
actions within a company.
• In the business world, the organization's culture for
determining the difference between good and bad
decision making and behavior.
Example of business ethics
Respecting customer information:
In finance, it is important to maintain the secrecy of the
client's information regarding its financial account balance,
account statement etc. or any other sensitive information
of its clients. This information must not be leaked and
poured out in public.
Workplace Diverity:
Management tends to hire the ame types of persons for
similar work; they may ensure providing everyone with an
equal opportunity by introducing different perspective to
the hiring process.
