How astronomers and scientists explain the way the universe started is called the Big

Bang theory. It is the hypothesis that the universe started as just a single point, then
enlarged and stretched to grow as massive as it is right now (and it could still be
stretching). It was claimed in the Big Bang theory that the universe exploded many
years ago into being in a massive explosion or a big bang. A very tiny amount was
occupied by the universe before the explosion, and it was unimaginably hot. This
burning radiation fireball mixed with particles of matter was gradually cooled that
allowed atoms to form. These atoms clumped together due to the power of gravity to
form billions of galaxies and our Milky Way Galaxy is one of those.

The small particles that make up an atom are protons, neutrons, and electrons. In
their charges, the main difference between the three can be identified. Proton are
specifically found in the nucleus, and is a positively charged sub-atomic particle
found in an atom and belongs to the group of nucleons. Next is the Neutron. The
neutron is a neutral sub-atomic particle present in an atom. Neutrons can also be
found in the nucleus, just like protons, and belong to the group of nucleons.
Neutrons, however, weigh significantly more than protons. And lastly, the
Electron. The electron is a sub-atomic particle found in an atom that is negatively
charged. At given energy levels, electrons are found orbiting around the nucleus of
an atom and the weight of electrons is so low that when compared to the weights of
protons and neutrons, it is considered not significant.

The atomic theory is the scientific theory of the existence of matter that claims that
matter consists of discrete (small) particles called atoms. It has been stated in the
atomic theory that atoms are indivisible particles and that all elements are composed
of atoms, that the same elements have exactly the same atoms and that atoms of
different elements are different, that atoms of elements can be mixed into
compounds, and that atoms are units of chemical shift. An atomic theory is, in a
simple sense, a theory that makes it easier to understand why an atom happens the
way it does.

The creation of new atomic nuclei, the centers of atoms that consist of protons and
neutrons, is called nucleosynthesis. Within a few minutes of the Big Bang,
nucleosynthesis first occurred and the elements of the present universe were
created. The resulting nucleosynthesis of the elements (including all carbon, all
oxygen, etc.) occurs mainly in stars, either by merging two smaller nuclei called
nuclear fusion or by splitting a larger nucleus into several nuclei called nuclear
fission. Both methods result in new atoms.
