SECTION B (50 MARKS)

51. Read the story carefully and answer the questions that follow in full
sentences.
A trip is a journey to a place for a particular purpose. Some trips are for
pleasure, others are for learning. A trip had with a reason to learn is called
an educational trip.
Last term, our class had a trip. We visited several places in Jinja town.
They were Nyanza Textile Industries Ltd. (NYTIL), Vitafoam industries,
Kingfisher Recreation Centre and the source of the world’s longest river, the
Nile.
In the morning of 29th March, 2019, we woke up at 5:00a.m and bathed. We
had already ironed our carbon blue uniforms the day before. All the buses
were comfortable enough for us to sit in, except that only one of them had a
radio to play music for us.
On the way, we sang songs because we were very excited to be out of the
fence for the first time since schools opened. Soon, we reached NYTIL. We
were warmly welcomed by the staff. They took us through the factory and
explained to us all the processes cotton goes through to make cloth.

When we left there, we proceeded to the source of River Nile. What I shall
not forget about River Nile is that when water leaves Lake Victoria, it takes
a while three months to reach the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt.

The last destination was Kingfisher Recreation Centre. After having a tasty
meal in the centre gardens, we changed into our swimming attire. We swam
for more than two hours. What amused us was that some big boys who
came around did not know how to swim. One of them who thought
swimming is as easy as ABC dived into the pool and drank some litres of
water. This threw all of us in uncontrolled laughter.

5
Our teacher asked us to get out of the swimming pool to prepare for the
journey back to school. After having supper, we boarded the buses and left
for school.
