School community profile

The following template gives you a range of prompts that will help create a profile of your
school community. Communities change over time, and you should periodically revisit this
template as part of your ongoing collection management cycle.
Use this template as a generic form to guide you. You may want to adapt one or two
questions depending on whether you’re a primary, intermediate, secondary or composite
school, or add additional questions if you feel they are relevant.
The information gathered in this template contributes to other information you obtain from
within your school (e.g. reading levels at specific year levels). The overall picture will
influence your decision-making in all aspects of developing and managing your library
collection, for both print and online resourcing.
