Direction: Answer the following questions. (10points)

Activity 1: Opponents of economic globalization called the outsourcing of jobs as exploitation and
oppression, a form of economic colonialism that puts profits before people. Do you still agree that
outsourcing is still best option of our country to fight poverty    ?

Outsourcing may be a good way to lower the rate of unemployment here in the Philippines but still
it is enough for the people to have a source of income in order to survive. BPO industry is one of the famous
outsourcing here in our country that gave a lot of people a job and income to support their families. Even
college graduates, college fresh graduates, college undergraduate, and even highschool graduates are
working in BPO's. So why it happens is that, there’s not enough opportunities for the career they want to
pursue but they have fallen to the jobs available in order to earn. Outsourcing is good actually because even
here in our country we have local outsourcing, an example is agencies who provides workers in factories
especially in Canning industry here in General Santos City. But the sad truth about outsourcing is that we
became a laborer for others and our economy is still thriving. If good governance and ending corruption will
be implemented, then we have been already one of the developed countries today. We have been one of the
Tiger Economies and have a strong military power before next to Japan but why we fell out of lists is
because of politicians political dynasty’s personal interest. In general, in my own perspective this is still the
best option rather than having no job opportunities for the Filipinos. Fixing the political system here in our
country with unity towards Philippines macroeconomic prosperity and economic growth.

Activity 2: What is your understanding between the wealth inequality and income inequality? (10pts.)
Wealth inequality is the inequality in the value of net worth among the people within a society have.
Since everyone is not rich and everyone falls into different categories of social stratification there’s really
inequality. Wealth represents power in where those in the upper class owns their own businesses or in the
higher position, they will hire people below their class to work for them.
Income inequality represents the different levels of income we earn and receive. To those in higher
position with less physical labor earns a lot of money while those who do physical labor earns a little. This is
the reality of our society. Those who work and make their own body as their capital to work earns a little
and whose who have good educational background as a capital earns good amount of income. This is a
mindset that we need to overcome because in Japan they give good amount of salary to those skilled
physical labor workers.
If Japan can do it then we can too. The government must spent money to do research for future plans
that could benefit the masses.
