Check system requirements -

Download iso mounting tools if needed. Available free online.

Create backups.

Updating multiple products / servers

● If more than one system is to be updated the update should be executed in


the following order.

2 Update the Imaging Engine

3 Update the Editors

4 Update the DeskPack plugins

5 Update the Automation Engine clients

Updating multiple Automation Engine Servers
● If more than one system is to be updated the update should be executed in
the following order.

Step Instructions

1 If a separate Automation Engine Data Server computer, upgrade this first.

2 Update the Automation Engine Master or DeskPack Server computers.

3 Update the Automation Engine Assistant.

4 Update the Imaging Engine FlexRip computers.

Update all the Automation Engine or DeskPack client Macintosh and

Windows computers.

1. Create Full backup of the Automation Engine. Backup instructions -

3. Check system requirements for this version http://help.esko.com/
4. Mount ISO Automation Engine 14.0.1.iso. This ISO contains both
Prerequisites components and Automation Engine installer.
5. Run the Automation Engine System Readiness Check.
6. Install the License Server components, activate license.
7. Install the prerequisite components.
8. Install Suite 14 Automation Engine.

Automation Engine upgrade installation
Suite 10 backup

Perform Restore Point if upgrading from Suite 10.


A Restore Point is a complete set of backup data of an Esko Automation
Engine Server (configuration and contents of the databases, comprising the
current hotfolders, Queue configurations, tickets, jobs etc…) at a certain
moment in time. This information can be restored to fall back on the
situation at the moment the Restore Point was made.

The Restore Point Management can be accessed by logging onto the AE


server as an administrator user.
All programs >> Esko >> Automation Engine 10.1 >> Server Admin. The
“Automation Engine Administration” window will be displayed. Select
“Automation Engine” tab, then choose “Manage Restore Points”

 Suite 10 restore points in do NOT contain the central resources such as


Color Management, DGCs, DGC strategies, SmartMarks, etc.

FlexProof E upgrade

1. FlexProofE backup - To backup system configuration settings, launch


EskoArtwork Proof Client. File menu in the System Manager, choose
Backup.
2. Check system requirements for this version

3. Run the FlexProof/E 14 System Readiness Check.
4. Install License Server components.
5. Activate upgrade license if upgrading from Suite 12 versions.
6. Install or upgrade Proof Server components.
7. Continue to FlexProof upgrade

ISO required – FlexProof E Prerequisites 14.iso

 The FlexProofE Prerequisites is only needed for FlexProofE


 You must update the Prerequisite Components before the FlexProof
components.

FlexRip, FlexProof upgrade / Imaging Engine migrate.

1. Perform FlexRip backup - All programs >> Esko >> FlexRip Configurator -
Click on the Backup button.
2. Check system requirements for this version

3. Run the FlexRip/FlexProof 14.0 System Readiness Check.
4. Install the System Controller 1.0 (License Server components).
5. Activate upgrade license if upgrading from Suite 12 versions.
6. Install the FlexRip/FlexProof Engine 14.0 products.

1. Activate upgrade license if upgrading from Suite 12 version.


2. Upgrade software by clicking on product installer.

ISO required – PackEdge 14.0.1 & Plato 14.0.1.iso

 Licensing can be done before or after upgrade is performed for these


editors. To upgrade License Server – this can be found under “Extra” on
the DVD.

FastImpose

1. Activate upgrade license if upgrading from Suite 12 version.


2. Upgrade software by clicking on product installer.

Download required – FastImpose 14.0.1.exe

 Licensing can be done before or after upgrade is performed for these


editors. To upgrade License Server – this can be found under “Extra” on
the DVD.

DeskPack Plugins

DeskPack plugin upgrade

1. Upgrade software on each Mac or PC that is using the DeskPack plugins.


2. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

DeskPack licensing
• You may be using a local license, which has to be activated on the machine
that you run the software on or you may be using a network license, which
is activated on a central machine (the Network License Manager) and
passed over the network to the computer that is running the software.

• Local license
The Esko Local License Manager. This application is installed in your
Applications folder for MAC. For Windows, go to Start > Programs > Esko
> Local License Manager > Manage Local Licenses.

• Network license
The Esko Plug-ins window is where you can define the Network License
Manager. If this window does not pop up automatically when starting
Adobe® Illustrator®, please select Help > Esko > Esko Plug-ins from the
Adobe® Illustrator® menu.

• Free Trial licenses


The Esko Plug-ins window is where you can start the free 30 day trial. If
this window does not pop up automatically when starting Adobe®
Illustrator®, please select Help > Esko > Esko Plug-ins from the Adobe®
Illustrator® menu.

Automation Engine Client / Pilot upgrade

 The Automation Engine Client software is distributed via the server admin
page. Whenever your Automation Engine Server is updated, the Pilot asks
you to update your application.
1. Open your web browser and navigate to http://servername:9999/ or
http://servername, where servername is the name of your server running
Automation Engine.
2. Click Download.
3. Start the installation by double-clicking the downloaded executable.
4. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

Logon to mysoftware.esko.com – click on arrow next to your name in
upper right. Go to Notification settings and subscribe to options.
● Why don’t I see any products for download on the Suite 14 page?
https://mysoftware.esko.com/ only offers products for download for
which you have the appropriate licenses. If you do not have version 14
product licenses yet, you will be prompted to either contact support or
request the new licenses directly from this site.
Once the licenses have been generated for you, you will be able to
download application software from the Suite 14 page.
