CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT and EVALUATION with EMPHASIS in TM I

LESSON PLAN

Teacher Activity Student Activity

I. Objectives:
At the end of the class the
students are expected to:

a. To know about the cross

section of the leaves, the
parts and different kinds
of leaf.
b. Identify the male and
female parts of the flower,
and the function of the
different parts of flowers.

II. Subject Matter:

a. Topic: Leaves and Flowers
b. Materials: Visual Aids,
pictures
c. Reference: Internet, book
d. Value integrated:

III. Procedure:
Opening prayer
Checking the attendance

Motivation:

Good Morning Class Good Morning Ma’am

I will group you into three
groups
 Giving instruction to the
student before they
proceed to their activity
 Monitoring the student
activity whether they
perform their task well
a. Development of the Lesson
Proper
IV. Abstraction

What is leaf class? Ma’am, a flattened structure of a higher

plant, typically green and bladelike, that
is attached to a stem directly or via a
stalk. Leaves are the main organs of
photosynthesis and transpiration.

What are the parts of the leaves class? Ma’am, the parts of the leaves are the
vein, tip, blade, axil, stipule, and
petiole.
-Showing the parts of the leaves

What is vein? Ma’am, the vein is serve as the pathway

Very Good! to transport both water and mineral in
the leaves.

What is tip? Ma’am, the tip is the upper part of the

Very Good! leaf.

What is blade? Ma’am, the blade is the flat expanded

Very Good! part of a leaf as distinguished from the
petiole.

What is axil? Ma’am, the angle between the upper

Very Good! side of the stem and a leaf or petiole.

What is stipule? Ma’am, the small, paired appendages

Very Good! (sometimes leaf-life) that are found at
the base of the petiole of leaves of many
flowering plants.

What is petiole? Ma’am, a leaf stalk; it attaches the leaf

Very Good! to the plant.

 Ok that is all about the part of the

leaves.
 Let’s proceed to the different kinds
of a leaf margins.

What are the kinds of a leaf margins? Ma’am, the different kind of margins
are: crenate, entire, lobe, parted,
 Ok the different kinds of leaf serrate.
margins are:
 Crenate
 Entire
 Lobed
 Parted
 Serrate

 Ok who can differentiate the five leaf Ma’am, the different among five leaf
margins margins are, the crenate having
rounded margins, and entire smooth
edge margin, the lobed is having
rounded or pointed margin, the parted
having margins between the irregular
teeth go more than halfway to the
midrib. And lastly the serrate having
small, pointy teeth that point toward
the tip of the leaf.
Ok next is the two kinds of leaf.
Question: what are the two kinds of leaf?
 Showing a picture of two kinds of
leaf
The two kinds of leaf class are the
compound leaf and the simple leaf
Question: Who can differentiate the two
kinds of leaves?

Let’s proceed to the next, the cross section

of the leaf.
 Showing a picture of cross section
 Ok who can read the part of the
cross section of leaf
 Ok very good

What is Guard cell? Ma’am, it is pair of curved cells that

Ok Very Good! surround a stoma, becoming larger or
smaller according to the pressure within
the cells.

Ma’am the epidermis the outer layer of

What is Upper Epidermis? cells covering an organism, in
particular.

Ma’am the mesophyll is the inner tissue

What is palisade mesophyll? (parenchyma) of a leaf, containing
many chloroplasts.

Ma’am, the vein is made up of a

vascular bundle. At the core of each
What is vein? bundle are clusters of two distinct types
of conducting cells:

Ma’am the cuticle is the outer layer of

What is waxy cuticle? living tissue, in particular.

Ok class that is all about the leaf, is it clear

class?
-ok

The next topic where going to discuss is

about flower
- Who among you here are not
familiar in flower,
- Ok Ma’am flower is the seed-bearing part
What is flower class? of plant, consisting of reproductive
- Ok very good! organs (stamens and carpals) that are
typically surrounded by a brightly
colored corolla (petals) and a green
calyx (sepals)

What are the different parts of flower?

- Showing a picture of a part of
flowers.
- Ok class that is the part of flower,
the Ovary, Style, Stigma, Anther,
Filament, Petals, Calyx, Pistil, and
the Stamen.

- And where going to know the

function of it in flower
Ma’am the ovary is the part of the
What is Ovary? female reproductive organ of the flower
or gynoecium.

Ma’am style is tin the topped by a

What is Style? stigma.

Ma’am the stigma is the receptive tip of

What is Stigma? carpel, or of several fused carpels, in the
gynoecium of a flower. The stigma
receives pollen at pollination and it is
on the stigma that the pollen grain
germinates.
What is Anther?

What is Filament?

What is Pistil?

What is Stamen

- Ok and that is all about the parts of

flower
- Is there any question class?
- Ok

Next is the two kinds of flowers?

- Who among of you here are
already know about the two kinds
of flower?
- Showing the picture of two kinds of
flower
- Ok class these are the kinds of
flower the perfect and imperfect
flower…

What is imperfect flower?

What is perfect flower?

- Ok very good!

- Did you know class that flower also

have a gender? The male and the
female part of flower

- Ok let’s find out the male and

female parts of a flower

- Ok class the male part of the flower

is the stamen and the female part
of the flower is the pistil!

- Is it clear class

- Ok class that is all our discussion

for today
V. Application
- The student must be divided in
three groups to perform an activity

VI. Evaluation

1. Give at least 5 parts of flower

2. What are the male and female parts
of the flower? Explain

Assignment
1. What is the attractive part of the
flower?
2. Give at least two reasons why
pollination is happening?
3. What is most important part in
flower?
4. Differentiate the two kinds of
leaves.
5. Why flowers and leaves are
important?
