Opening Song: SEEK THE LORD

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call to Him while He is still near.
1. Today is the day and now the proper hour, to forsake our sinful lives and turn to the Lord. (Ref)
2. As high as the sky is above the earth, so high above our ways, the ways of the Lord. (Ref).
Leader: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Opening Prayer: Almighty Father, God of all consolation, you have sent light into darkness in the presence and power of
your Son. His death and resurrection have given us the victory over death itself. Hear our prayers and lift us by your Spirit
out of our shadows of uncertainty to the light of your hope. We ask this through Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

First Reading: (Wisdom 3: 1-9)

A reading from the book of Wisdom
The righteous people are protected by God and will never suffer torment. It is a foolish mistake to think that
righteous people die and that their death is a terrible evil. They leave us, but it is not a disaster. In fact, the righteous people
are at peace. It might appear that they have suffered punishment, but they have the confident hope of immortality. Their
sufferings were minor compared with the blessings they will receive. God has tested them, like gold in the furnace, and found
them worthy to be with him. He has accepted them, just as he accepts the sacrifices which his worshipers burn on the altar.
When God comes to reward the righteous, they will blaze out against the wicked like fire in dry straw. They will rule over the
nations and peoples, and the Lord will be their King forever. Those who have put their trust in God will come to understand
the truth of his ways. Those who have been faithful will live with him in his love, for he is kind and merciful to the ones
whom he has chosen.
The word of the Lord.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM (sung)
My soul finds rest in God alone. My salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock, My salvation my fortress I shall
never be afraid, I shall never be afraid.
1. Trust in Him at all times, O people of God; Pour out your hearts to Him. He is our refuge and He is our hope.
2. Rest your heart not in riches nor honor Of the world weighed out with the heart of God. These blow to nothingness
vanish like breath.
3. You yourself, Lord, have said: "I am your strength, I am your deliverer, loving and merciful father of all."
Second Reading: (Romans 6: 3-9)
A reading from the letter of Paul to the Romans
For surely you know that when we were baptized into union with Christ Jesus, we were baptized into union with his
death. By our baptism, then, we were buried with him and shared his death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from death
by the glorious power of the Father, so also we might live a new life. For since we have become one with him in dying as he
did, in the same way we shall be one with him by being raised to life to life as he was. And we know that our old being has
been put to death with Christ on his cross, in order that the power of the sinful self might be destroyed, so that we should no
longer be the slaves of sin. For when we die we are set free from the power of sin. Since we have died with Christ, we believe
that we will also live with him. For we know that Christ has been raised from death and will never die again, death will no
longer rule over him.
The word of the Lord.

Gospel Reading:
A reading from the Holy Gospel According to St. John
When Jesus arrived, found that Lazarus had been buried four days before. Bethany was less than two miles
from Jerusalem, and many Judeans had come to see Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother’s death.
When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Martha stayed in the house. Martha said to
Jesus. If you had been here, Lord, my brother would not have died! But I know even now God will give you whatever
you ask him for. Your brother will rise to life. Jesus told her. I know, she replied, that he will rise to life on the last
day. Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die; and
those who live and believe in me will never die. Do you believe this? Yes Lord she answered. I do believe that you are
the Messiah, the Son of God, who come into the world”. The Gospel of the Lord.

Response: Praise to you, O Lord Jesus Christ.

may Diyos tayong nagmamahal

sorrows, life and death. Let us pray to the Lord.

PRAYER OF ACCEPTANCE OF DEATH (By the members of the bereaved family)

Lord, help us to see death for what is really is; the end of poverty and the beginning of richness; the end of frustration and the
beginning of fulfillment; the end of fear and the beginning of tranquility; the end of weakness and the beginning of strength;
the end of darkness and the beginning of light. Let not grief overwhelms us, or a sense of loss embitters us. But out of our
sadness, let there arise a new joy for so much given to us. Cast our fears and let not our hearts be troubled. Let your Spirit of
peace come alive within our experience and hurt, our sorrow and isolation, our sadness today and loneliness tomorrow. We
too, O God, will descend unto the grave whenever it shall please you. Amen.

Our Father …..Hail Mary…..

Closing Prayer: Father, we thank you for the love and compassion you give us each day of our life. Receive your servant
