Who was the inventor?

Theodore Harold American physicist and engineer. Inventor of the first laser, the
ruby laser. His invention led to the creation of countless types of lasers, with
applications ranging from delicate surgery to measuring the distance between the
Earth and the Moon.
When and where did she live?
Theodore Harold (Ted) Maiman was born on July 11, 1927, in Los Angeles,
California (United States).
Maiman moved with his second, to Canada, where he held an adjunct professor
position at the Simon Fraser University School of Engineering Sciences,
How/where was the inventor educated?
He attended the University of Colorado and received a Bachelor of Science in
physical engineering, then went on to graduate from Stanford University where he
received an M.S. for her work in electrical engineering and a Philosophical Doctoin
physics.
Why did the inventor want to make this invention?
To measure the distance from the Earth to the Moon for the first time, projecting
the high-powered Theodore Maiman-designed ruby laser onto a reflective disk
placed on the Moon by astronauts during the Apollo 11 mission. This experiment
determined the distance a the Moon with an accuracy of about 15 cm.
Did this inventor invent other things ?
In addition to his patent for the first working laser, Maiman authored several
patents on masers, lasers, laser displays, optical scanning, and modulation.
He also worked on the development of curricula in Biophotonics, Photonics and
Optical Engineering.
