Montgomery Baptists will prioritize the gospel above all by doing the following:
Meet human need while planting gospel seed;
Evangelize the River Region while planting and replanting churches;
Discover, develop, and deploy disciples of Christ to be missionaries across the street and around the world

A GLIMPSE AT YOUR MONTGOMERY MISSIONARY... Meet the New President of

My wife, Tara, and I grew up in Montgomery, Samford University,
graduated from Trinity Presbyterian School and Dr. Beck Taylor
Auburn University, and married shortly after that. I
accepted a position to serve on staff in the college
ministry of First Baptist Church of Opelika (FBCO) August 5 | 2:30 pm
after working in construction for several years. I also
served as a campus missionary on Auburn First Baptist Church
University’s campus with the North American Fellowship Hall | 305 S Perry Street
Mission Board. While living and ministering in the
Cameron Bell Auburn/Opelika area, God blessed us with a girl, Lunch & Learn: Leading a Ministry that Lasts
Church Planter Mary Whit, who is now six years old, and a boy,
Southside Gospel Shep, who is now five years old. Mark Bethea and Jay Wolf

While in Opelika, I was also privileged to begin my
studies at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, from which I Thursday, August 12, 11:30-12:30 pm
graduated with a Masters of Divinity in the summer of 2020. After
serving at FBCO for five years, we felt the Lord leading us to move Fist Baptist Church
to Montgomery to plant a church. Therefore, in the Spring of 2019, 305 S. Perry Street
we moved to Montgomery to begin a church planting residency at
Strong Tower at Washington Park. Since being back in Montgomery, RSVP at AlabamaChild.org/eventsignup
we have served as a foster family and currently have a three-year-old
boy and a one-year-old girl. By God’s grace, we will officially plant NO RESTRAINTS CONFERENCE
Southside Gospel Fellowship on August 1, 2021.
August 13-14
In the Lord’s providence, our ministry plans were significantly
impacted by the pandemic. We moved back to Montgomery with A free conference for Bi-Vocational and smaller
plans to start the church plant in the fall of 2020. However, due to the membership church ministers at Valleydale
pandemic and a few additional factors, our timeline was postponed Church in Birmingham.
for an entire year. However, since our timeline was pushed back, we
had the opportunity to stay at Strong Tower for an additional year, For more information,
and I had the privilege to serve in a short-term executive pastor role. visit www.nobts.edu/caskeycenter.

One of the most significant answers to prayer over the last year has
been God bringing together a group of people to start Southside
Gospel Fellowship. I recently found a journal that contained some
things that Tara and I were praying for back in 2016, and a core team
for the church plant was one of those prayers. God has answered that
prayer and provided an amazing group of people to serve alongside to
establish this new church in Montgomery.

The primary way that MBA churches can pray for us is by praying
for God to prepare people’s hearts to hear the good news of the
gospel so that they would turn from their sin and trust in Jesus. In
addition, MBA churches can pray for me personally by praying that
God would give me supernatural wisdom as I help lead this new
gospel work.

The most significant ask that we can make of MBA churches is that
they pray for us. As Oswald Chambers has said, “Prayer does not
equip us for greater works—prayer is the greater work.” We
desperately need people to join us in the greater work of prayer. The
next most significant ask that we can make of MBA churches is to
partner with us financially. As every church knows, it takes resources
to carry out ministry effectively. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Another significant ask that we would make of MBA
churches is to partner with us through volunteering at our outreaches.
