can lead to serious corrosion under insulation (CUI) of pipes
and equipment. Oil and gas companies can incur significant
loss of time and revenue due to CUI as well as health and
safety risks. Currently, metal jacketing and caulking/sealants
are used to protect against mechanical damage, weather
conditions, and additional damage caused from unprotected
protrusions and overlaps. Due to several causes, such as
foot traffic, water or moisture still gets into the insulation
causing deterioration of thermal properties and eventual CUI.
