Introduction, Process, Consent

● Hello, my name is Mr. Moderator and I will be guiding today’s focus group discussion
● The purpose of the study is to gain insights on the overall student experience with
Summer Placement Process at IIM Kozhikode. The discussion is expected to last 1 hour
and the results would be used to improve the online placement process experience for
students based on your feedback, post analysis.
● The session would be conducted on the zoom platform and will be audio-video recorded.
We are committed to keep the identities of all the participants confidential.
● As part of the study, kindly fill the presession participant profile questionnaire and return
it once finished.
Ground Rules
● Everyone has a right to express their viewpoints and opinions, regarding their experience.
● Everyone has a right a to speak without being interrupted or disrespected by other group
members, if you feel anything needs to be added or have a different point of view, please
wait for your turn.
● Mr. Moderator has the right to guide the timing and flow of the session topics but will
allow the group to determine the importance and focus of the conversation, as
appropriate.

● Identities of group members will remain confidential; first names only will be used for
name tags and in reference to one another during the session.
● No information related to stipend, company etc. should be disclosed.

Please tell us about yourself i.e., first name, age, and your current area of work/profile
and current location. What are your interests and hobbies?
● Introductory Question (90 seconds per participant)

1) What are your thoughts on the placement processes being followed across MBA
colleges in India?
2) How many screening stages do you think are necessary for any placement
process?
● Transition Question (1-2 sentences per participant)

1) What was your experience with your placement process?
2) Is there any particular instance that you would like to mention that made your
experience particularly good or bad?

Content #1: Pre-placement Preparation (Includes CV prep, interview prep as well

as applying for companies) (60 seconds per question)
1. How were you introduced to the CV building platform?
2. Was there a timely and clear demonstration of the platform used?
3. Were you provided with sufficient time for resume building and updation?
4. What were some of the challenges faced by you while preparing your CV?
5. How were the interview preparations conducted?
6. Was the preparation process exhaustive?
7. How were you given details on the companies to apply for and were the details
given out in a timely manner?
8. Were there any specific challenges faced while applying for companies?
9. What steps would you like to add that could help make the preparation process
better?
Content #2: Placement process Demonstration (45 secs per question)

1. Was the demo done in a timely manner?
2. Were the instructions given clearly?

3. Was the demo practical and hands on?
4. Did the demo sufficiently prepare you for the actual placement experience?
5. What were the challenges you faced doing demonstration?
6. Are there any steps you want that should be taken to make the process more
convenient and helpful?
Content #3: Actual Placement Process Experience (75 secs per question)
1. Was the process demonstration helpful during the actual placements?
2. Was there enough support provided during the actual process (or, were the queries
answered satisfactorily)?
3. What are specific issues, concerns, or problems you’ve faced while undergoing the
process?
4. What words or feelings come to mind when you think about our placement process?
5. What would you most like to add to or improve about this process and why?
6. How would you describe the process to other people?
Content #4: Post-Placement Information Sharing (45 secs per question)

1. How were you made known once you got selected in a company?
2. What were the steps you had to take once you were signed out?
3. Was there sufficient information provided on steps needed to be followed once you
were signed out?
4. Are there any suggestions you would like to add to improve the process?
5. Is there anything we haven't touched on today that you'd like us to know?
6. Is there a specific topic we want to circle back to from this discussion to add or
expand on?
Closing/Debriefing questions
How would you like to describe the process in one sentence and what specific improvement would
you like to see that could help make the online placements more effective?

their experience and this would provide us valuable insights to improve the online placement
