Trauma
Bone breakage
Bleeding typically occurs around the site and into the soft tissues surrounding
the bone. The soft tissues are usually damaged by the injury.
vasodilation
Proximal humerus fractures can be treated with ORIF depending on the risk of blood supply
disruption and other factors. Factors contributing to having ORIF are accidents causing broken arm injury,
this is a consequence of a fall with an outstretched hand in an attempt to brace the fall. Younger patients
often present with these type of injuries following high- energy trauma such as car accidents or motor
vehicular accident. The fractured bone is classified as displaced compound fracture. It occurs as a trauma
followed by bone breakage depending on the impact. The patient had high impact accident leading him to
have a displaced and compound fracture. Because of this, death of bone cells happen resulting to bleeding
on the site and its soft tissues. Intense inflammation had taken place causing blood vessels to dilate
leading to increased blood flow in the injury site.Because of this, white blood cells such as mast cells
accumulates and does phagocytic process.A fibrin clot or fracture hematoma forms at the break and acts
The disruption of the bone needed to be repaired and realigned through surgical procedure called
Open Reduction Internal Fixation at the proximal humerus area. They usually use screws, rods, nails and
plates to moved the bone in the right place and hold broken parts together. This procedure causes Acute
pain and swelling since there is a cut or incision made by the doctor. In the post operative care, since the
patient is on bed rest and has difficulty mobilizing, the nursing diagnosis is impaired physical mobility. And
