Overview of the Upgrade Procedure ............................................................. Error! Bookmark not defined.
Prerequisites ................................................................................................................................................. 5
WARNING - These installation instructions and tasks are to be used and carried out only by skillful
and experienced System Administrators. We suggest that you review the installation instructions in
advance and call Customer Support if there are any questions or concerns prior to start of
installation.
If you are unsure of your ability to perform these instructions, do NOT attempt this installation. If
you ignore this warning, you risk bringing down your cash devices and their daily operations. If you
experience a problem with the installation, there is no recovery procedure for this—you will have to
reinstall Lutzwolf from the beginning.
The time required for the Lutzwolf 3.3.6 installation process is approximately one hour excluding the time it
takes to balance the machine(s). Ensure you have enough time set aside to complete this installation.
Please familiarize yourself with the entire set of procedures prior to starting the upgrade.
IMPORTANT - We strongly recommend that you do one branch completely (all the steps) before
attempting to upgrade a second branch. Once you are comfortable with the process, proceed to
the other branches.
In these instructions, we discuss drivers which are associated with each device type. In the new version of
Lutzwolf (v.3.3.6), the drivers are no longer shared. All device types now utilize a unique device driver.
Prerequisites
1. Switch all CashHandler devices from using Java RMI communication to Web Services. Changes to
firewall rules may be necessary. This should be done for just one CashHandler device first to
verify all changes that are necessary in order for Web Services communication.
To test the Web Services communication before affecting the CashHandler device, use the
SUM.CASH_HANDLER_VIEW_DC_CONFIG job. The section that lists the CashHandler devices
should have HTTP:// inserted before each domain name or IP address. The java run line should
have the -p 1099 replaced with -p 8080.
For example:
cat >> DCLIST << EOD
HTTP://10.6.200.100
EOD
And
$JAVA_BIN/java -cp $SPXHOME/SPECTRUM/PGMS/CashHandler.jar
com.fiserv.spectrum.cashhandler.ShowDCConfig -h ${I} -p 8080 >> DCDEVLST
Then run the job and verify whether it is able to successfully communicate with the Lutzwolf
workstations via Web Services. After this has been done, proceed with switching one
CashHandler device to using Web Services.
After making these changes, upterm that CashHandler device and verify the cash devices are
functional. Note, CashHandler should never be uptermed while tellers are in the middle of a
dispense or deposit. Coordinate this change with the branch.
If not successful, and you need to switch back to Java RMI while researching, restore the port
number to 1099 and the Middleware IP / Network Node to not having the HTTP:// preface and
upterm the CashHandler device again.
After successfully switching one CashHandler device to using Web Services with Lutzwolf,
convert the remaining CashHandler devices, coordinating with each branch, and verifying all
devices are functional.
2. At least one week prior to installation, obtain your license key and activation key.
Open a case with Customer Support requesting the two keys and provide the following
information:
The fully qualified Domain Name (FQDN) for each Lutzwolf workstation.
Right-click on Computer and select Properties from the pop-up menu.
From the display, locate the Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings and use the Full
computer name information.
The exact count of the Cash Dispensers, Cash Recyclers, and Coin Dispensers (from the
Lutzwolf workstation). The SUM.CASH_HANDLER_VIEW_DC_CONFIG job can be used to
pull this information from each Lutzwolf workstation. (Search UC4 for "ShowDCConfig" in the
process tab.)
When available, the License.properties file(s) from Glory will be attached to your case for the
installation. You need this file(s) before you start your installation.
NOTE - You will receive one file per Lutzwolf workstation. Ensure you use the correct file for
the corresponding Lutzwolf workstation—the files cannot be interchanged.
3. Update your firmware. Contact your cash device vendor as soon as possible to ensure your device
is ready for this upgrade:
IMPORTANT - For Cash Dispensers, zero out the inventory. You are not required to remove
the notes (cash) from the device.
5. Obtain access information to the Local Administrator password for the Lutzwolf workstation.
6. Download the DC_3.3.6_standalone.zip file from the Portal:
https://portal.spectrum.fiserv.com/docs/3pp/downloads/DC_3.3.6_standalone.xml
7. Transfer the DC_3.3.6_standalone.zip file to the Lutzwolf workstation and unzip it.
8. Within the unzipped directory, go into the doc directory and review the Upgrade Guidelines
V3_3_0.pdf document provided by Lutzwolf.
Installing v3.3.6
1. Launch the Configurator and take screen captures.
a. Navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Lutzwolf Systems|GmbH\DeviceStarter\ Configurator\configurator.cmd.
b. From the Configurator - Host Connection dialog box, click OK.
c. Take screen captures of all listed devices and all the individual configuration settings for each
device.
For each device listed there is an individual configuration file. If there is more than one device,
repeat the procedure for each device. In the example below, there are four device displays that
you need to capture.
NOTES – The device column may truncate the device name; you can expand the column if
you need to see the whole name.
The device name (column 1) is actually the device driver name. This is not critical, but it must
be mentioned. In this example, note that there are two Diebold ECR228 “devices.” Since
more than one cash recycler uses the same drivers, do not assume that you have all the
captures if you capture list item 1 and 2. You need to screen capture every one listed; in this
case, there should be four screen captures.
d. From the Configurator dialog box, click on each Configure link and take a screen capture of
each device’s Configure Communicator dialog box. In the previous example (the end of Step
16 on page 10), the first device is a Diebold 228 device [third column] with a _2002 extension
[second column]. When you open the dialog box, this information displays in the upper left
corner of the dialog box.
e. After completing the screen capture, click Cancel to return to the Configurator dialog box.
f. Continue taking screen captures until all the devices are captured (steps d through e).
g. Exit the Configurator by clicking Exit and then Yes.
2. Save your screen captures in a location that you can remember and access.
3. From the desktop, access the Services folder (Control Panel > Administrative Tools >
services.
a. Right click on the DeviceController file and select Stop.
4. Close the Services window by clicking the X in the upper right corner.
5. Create backup folder.
a. Right click on Lutzwolf Systems GmbH and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
b. This will create a new file in the same directory that is zipped and ready in the event you need
to access the information.
NOTES – This may take a few seconds or a few minutes depending on your machine.
You may see one or more windows pop open during this process. This is expected behavior.
6. From the Installing DeviceController dialog box, a progress bar displays while the software installs.
7. From the CurrencyConfigurator dialog box, use the drop-down list to select USD. Click Ok.
8. From the LicenceConfigurator 1.1 dialog box, enter both the license key and activation key
previously assigned to this Lutzwolf workstation and click Ok. This information was provided to you
attached to the case.
NOTE - You may see the progress bar again. It may flash on the display or may display for a
few seconds.
9. From the Completing the DeviceController Setup Wizard, click Finish to close the wizard.
12. From the Welcome to the DeviceStarter Setup Wizard dialog box, click Next.
NOTES - This may take a few seconds or a few minutes depending on your machine.
You may see one or more windows pop open during this process. This is expected behavior.
From the Installing DeviceStarter dialog box, a progress bar displays while the software installs.
14. From the CurrencyConfigurator dialog box, use the drop-down list to select USD. Click Ok.
From the Installing DeviceStarter dialog box, a progress bar displays while the software installs.
15. From the Completing the DeviceStarter Setup Wizard, click Finish.
18. Edit the devicecontroller.properties file as instructed by the Lutzwolf upgrade documentation to
set cashinafterrollback=1. When testing cash recyclers after the upgrade, be sure to test the
cancellation of a deposit or load.
19. From the desktop, click on the Services folder (or Control Panel > Administrative Tools >
services).
a. Right click on the DeviceController file and select Start.
22. From the Configurator dialog box, select the Keep cashin status after rollback check box.
25. Run the SUM.CASH_HANDLER_VIEW_DC_CONFIG job to verify it can communicate with the
upgraded Lutzwolf workstation and that the configured devices are pulled.
26. For any devices whose Middleware ID values have changed (Arca recyclers), update the value in
Modifile. (No upterm required.)
IMPORTANT - Cash dispensers will show an empty inventory. Perform the Load function to
set the inventory as it was before the upgrade.
