2. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME (CLO)

The objective of this laboratory is to extend the knowledge of chemical process dynamics, instrumentation and
control into practical work. The laboratory content will offer you the application of the fundamental concepts and
theory of the subjects as applied to the chemical engineering unit operations and everyday life.

COURSE SYNOPSIS:
1. This practical course requires several groups of ~5 students to perform experiments related to process
instrumentation, dynamics and control.

You are required to inform the Lab Coordinator/Lab Technologist/ Lab

● Other emergencies/
Instructor. This needs to be supported by an authorized document that
unavoidable matters
has to be submitted later on.

b) Lab session is a GROUP EFFORT.

● If you are absent during the lab session, you cannot replace it. However, you have to be involved in
preparing the lab report with the group members to validate the mark on your part.
● Peer review will be considered for all reports during compilation of coursework marks.
● You must also attend the viva voce session accordingly (subjected to the arrangement with the Lab
Instructor).
● Without valid supporting document due to absenteeism, you will not be getting marks for any of the
lab assessments.
c) In case of lab falls on the public holiday, lab session will be replaced at other suitable time subjected to
availability.
d) In case of equipment breakdown, your experiment will be replaced with other available equipment.
However, cases below apply:
● If equipment breakdown happens after more than half of the experiment requirement, you must
proceed with the available results.
● If equipment breakdown happens less than half of the experiment requirement or before any results
obtained, the experiment must be replaced with other available experiment/equipment.

6. LAB SAFETY

a) Properly attired.
● You MUST wear your lab coat whenever you are in the lab.
● Other personal protective equipment (PPE, such as goggles, safety helmet, ear plugs, ear muff, etc)
will be provided accordingly.
